Have you thought of calling KIA of North America to launch a complaint?

I called a few weeks ago and they said I was the only person in the nation who complained about the driver's seat and they brushed me off. If more people call, the more power we have for change.
they have already listen and it may be solved as the 2014 interior has been completely overhauled, but I suppose its not going to please everyone which is virtually impossible when everyone is different :D

Buying a new car would be easy but I'm underwater on payments and car worth since I just purchased the car last year. :). Unless of course, you would like to help make up the difference?

I'm not 200 pounds. I'm a 5'2" female and normal weight. I don't keep things in my back pockets.

When you go on a test drive, they don't allow you to take the vehicle for a long distance drive. It's the only way to find such a thing out.

I've done a search on this forum and there are many people who have started to suffer from back pain as a result of the driver's seat. I'm trying to respond to as many posts as possible because each post may still be looking for replies.

One driver bought a 2013 Soul in January this year and started having back pain already in March. Posters made him feel alone, too.

Thanks for the kind support, Guys. One would think Soul owners would be nicer, say, such as Cooper owners.

I'm just wondering..... how many threads do we really need on the topic of 'Uncomfortable Driver's Seat' ???

Or maybe none at all, since there is no-one on any forum that can do a darn thing about it.

There are all sorts of things on the market for changing (improving) the way a car seat fits the driver.
There are seat cushions, lumbar supports, etc.
I do have a lumbar support that I can "pump up" for greater support, but I don't need it in my Kia Soul.

I even saw one little lady at a gas station one day, with a sofa cushion in her seat. :) :)

The driver's seat in my Base Soul, is a six way seat and I had no problem finding a position that suited me.
Granted, it's not electric, but I'm not helpless either, so adjusting it was no big deal.

Cheers Mates!

sorry we do have a few that get carried away, but we are only trying to offer various suggestions to try to solve your problem as there are many things to try and it has worked for many in the past who have had similar problems.

My wife is 5'2" and has had no problems. You have not filled out your DRIVES profile with details of your vehicle as I requested earlier as we don't know whether you have a base + or ! (cloth or leather) and perhaps with this info we can narrow down more what you could try.

1. At this point have you tried all the various seat (up down, tilt), headrest (forward and back) and steering column adjustments (tilt and telescope?
2. Do you have a centre armrest?
3. Where in the back are you getting the pain?
4. Have you checked at a store that specializes in products for the back that could offer suggestions?
5. How long a distance do you travel before you get the pain?

Disagree. Volvo gets it right with their power adjustable driver's seat, but not everyone is in a position to get one financially, again. Had mine for 15 years, zero problems or complaints.
I agree Volvo do make excellent seats (I owned a new one but that was in the late sixties) however, I would suspect that even on this vehicle there will be someone who has had to do the odd tweak to meet there requirements, but you can do a lot to a vehicle when it costs 2-4 times the cost of a Soul. You are more in the Cadenza territory which has a 8-way power seat. Obviously the more adjustments on the seat you stand a better chance of filling more peoples requirements more quickly with less it can sometimes take more time and perhaps the odd additional tweak to match your particular requirement.

The Soul is my 3rd Kia. The first was a Spectra 5 and I could only take about 2 hours behind the wheel before my legs went numb and my back was screaming for relief!! My second was a Rio and the same back and leg problem persisted.
Last year my doctor noted some weight gain (I'd quit smoking) and suggested walking as a way to work it off. Well the daytime temps, were in the triple digits and there was no way I was going walking!! I bought a stationary bike and spent at least 30 min. on it every day.
In late August I had to make a trip to Iowa, several 100 miles in the Rio!!
I drove until I needed a pit stop, 3 hours, and when I got out of the car I realized my legs were not numb and my back was only a bit stiff from sitting that long!!
I've kept up on the exercise and have had the Soul on several long road trips with very little discomfort.
Keep in mind that I'm 73, lead a fairly active life but have slowed down a bit!! :D
Sometimes it could be just us!!

As I'm getting out of my car, at the gas station or watering hole, I notice other people's cars and I see that many people, even in $50k luxury cars, have seat cushions of various types. Almost guaranteed, put a 'little gal' in an Escalade and she's going to have some sort of seat cushion.

In a previously owned car of mine, I badly needed a lumbar support and I bought one from my Chiropractor.
But with my Soul, I've not needed that. I'm a 'BIG' boy and the Soul (base) seat fits me pretty well.
I do get a little bit Stiff on long trips, but that's more just ME than the seat.
I do need a Seat-Belt-Extender, in order to 'Buckle Up'.

I also get stiff if I sit in my LazyBoy recliner for too long.
Those of us, over 70 probably know what I'm talking about. Eh?

I have problems with lower back pain. I have tried a cushion, pillow and blow up back support. I read somewhere to get a pool 'noodle', cut it to size and you can use the center hole to thread a rope or elastic through to anchor it to the back seat. It works for me. Very firm, but hits at just the right spot.

Great idea Doughboy. Just saw those "noodles" at the store today. It would be easy enough to customize and/or remove when someone else drives the car. Brilliant!

I just got my Soul + last week, and I love just about everything about it EXCEPT the drivers seat cushion- everyone on line seems to say the seats are comfortable, and it seemed ok at first, but the longer I drive it I am getting lasting pain in my hips and glutes from where the bolster hits on the sides- I'm only 5'8 and 166 so I'm not an out of the ordinary size or shape- has anyone else had any issues with this or am I the only one?
We’ve had our soul since 2018 but the drivers seat is terrible! We are having the same issue you have shared. What to do?
