Ok. I thought a kilometer was longer than a mile 🤔
Reminds me of a joke

Blonde, Brunette, Redhead
A blonde, a brunette and a redhead are trapped on an island 1000 kilometers from shore, and the only way to get back is to swim.

The brunette goes 200 kilometers, gets tired, and drowns.

The redhead goes 650 kilometers, gets tired, and also drowns.

Then the blonde gets to 999 kilometers, gets tired, turns around and swims back.

1 Kilometer = 0.62 Miles.
1 Kilogram = 2.2 Pounds.
Don't ask me about gallons to liters.

Or why we did not go metric in the 60's like my teachers said was happening.
Because it's easier and makes more sense. :cautious:

Yeah I went to grammar school in the 70s and they were forcing us to learn metric. They switched our soda bottles from quarts to liters and half gallon glass jug to 2 liter plastic but left everything else standard American . Make it make sense 🤣

Oil change time on the old sh*t box.

2011 Soul. 2.0L Beta. 159k miles on the engine and about 3k on the oil.

Out Amazon Basics High Mileage 5w30 with a Wix filter. In SuperTech “All Mileage” Synthetic Blend 5w30 and a Wix filter.

Oil looked good as usual and the engine still runs like a top. Had to re-tighten the power steering and alternator belts that I replaced last year. No more squeaks.

Found new rust, now on the passenger side over the rear wheel. Will address that and yet again the rust on the drivers side when it gets warmer.

Dad’s car and he’s taking it to get that abs pump fuse recall taken care of tomorrow.

I have the 2010 with 161,000ml and the engine runs solid. We changed the power steering unit last year and had to re-tighten the alternator pulley as it was squeaking as well. This engine and the 3800 in my park avenue are the most reliable engines I ever had

Same, it’s been one of the most reliable cars I’ve ever owned. The other was my 08 Elantra with the same engine and transmission.

If it wasn’t for the rust, it would probably make it another 159k miles. I’m in the northeast so unless you use an oil based undercoating, rust kills our cars quick. My 2019 Soul I’m using WoolWax undercoating to keep it as rust free as possible.

Fortunate for me I'm in the Mojave Desert 🏜 humidity is around 10% and it almost never rains. My wipers dry rot and fall off before I get to use them

Had this recall done and it was uneventful. Took about an hour. They also did a multipoint inspection and found a bad drivers side ball joint and recommended a timing belt based on time. The timing belt was replaced around 90k so it’s fine for now, but it will probably never get changed again. But what I found interesting is the quote they gave for the timing belt was $499.99. That’s an amazing price and cheaper than it was for my Elantra 10+ years ago. Must be a typo.

Oh and they recommend brake fluid flush. I did that a couple of years ago when I replaced the brakes so it’s fine, but I’ll probably flush it again this summer with the Motive Pressure Bleeder. I’ll do the ball joint too. I’ll buy an OEM ball joint because the aftermarket one that’s in there didn’t last much longer than 2 years. I’ll have to get a cheap ball joint tool from Amazon or maybe rent one from auto zone.

Today was replace the right rear door weather strip. It might be possible to crimp the old one so it holds better, but I didn't want my daughter to have to worry about it if it didn't fix the looseness.
Replaced the air filter, At the June oil change found I ordered the wrong one.
Replaced the hood bumpers. Old ones had melted

Found oil leak around some valve cover gasket bolts. I will have to replace that when it cools down a bit more.

Replaced the metal transmission fluid cooler line on the old clunker today. It was very rusty and leaking. Easy job, even the hoses didn’t fight me. Probably spent more time fighting with those stupid spring clamps because I didn’t have the proper tool. Took less than 45 mins start to finish. Also noticed the trans fluid pan is badly rusted so I ordered one of them.

The part is called a “tube assembly-feed” which makes it hard to search for. The part number for 2010-2011 Soul is 45264 23650 and looks like this:
