base soul. their talking about a panaramic roof, they can go on any soul as far as i know except the panramic.

i've spoken with SSD the guys hwo make the after market and ive done the leg work here and as far as on paper and forums and also according to every dealer ive talked to their are no mounting pounts under that molding...I am not sure...did the guy who posted this **** ever buy it or was he blowing smoke? <_< Id really be interested to know i was hopefuly when i found this but nobody seems to have the answer. i see those canadian pictures and they dont even look they have mounting points..unless thier clip on or something O_O
The Canadian models, regardless of generation, have nothing in common with the US models in regard to these rails. The gen US 1s had two mounting points where rails could be fitted (made by SSD) under the plastic strip, no gen 1 US models have standard OEM rails available. The gen 2s have two mounting points on each side where OEM Cross rails can be mounted (these are not side rails). But SSD makes what they call a Hybrid rail that fits the US gen 2s. I put a set of those on my 2014. They still need cross rails for some applications and I have those as well. But again, no US model comes standard with the rails. I have no idea what that is for the Philippines, I have not seen that set up in the pictures before.

It seems that astridman's pictures and the picture that I took has the same setup.

talking with the vender linked by a member in this thread I'll simply post their response. and my question.

Everything goes by VIN # - and part # - just because we are in different countries, the part number remains the same, if the part # is the same it will be the same part. They will indeed fit your car.

didn't have my question in their email i dont have a record of it. simply asked if it fit. this is what they said so far. i'm about to give em my vin and see if they find something. not sure.
they emailed back asking for my vin. so im going to try and follow this through i'll post what happened and if i get a roof rack. and perhaps end this depocale.

So, I ended up going to Rack Attack and had them install an aftermarket track that acts as the rails (lord knows I wasn't going to be responsible for drilling anything into the roof of my girlfriend's Soul, so I had them do it). It was expensive ($1100 CAD) and included everything including the Thule feet and Aeroblade crossbars and they did it in about two hours. I did consider the the less expensive option with the thule feet that strap into the door jams but they have a very low weight rating (65 lbs I think). Plus it just doesn't look as good, in my opinion.

I did call the dealership one more time before going ahead with the aftermarket solution. And yes, Applewood Kia confirmed that OEM rails CAN BE MOUNTED on a base roof BUT it requires a round trip to the bodyshop because they need to weld in the mount points AND doing that cost around $1200 CAD ...just to do the rails. Then you would have the additional expense of buying the cross bars. That was just too much money for me.

So, here is the end result:

I am super happy with the fit and finish and how they look. Not super happy about the cost, but what are you gonna do.

Another alternative on how to install oem roof rails on a base soul.

So..... with regard to Gen II Soul Panoramic Sunroof models, I see a lot of postings here with the part numbers, which total about $800++ dollars for all of the pieces. No word on whether anyone has actually ordered these or tried to install them.

From the photos shown above, it appears when you remove the trim strip (which is NOT the same as non-pano Souls) all you get underneath, in a US-spec car, is a bunch of clip mounting points, with no welded bosses to hold the roof rail.

I went to a Canadian dealer in Alberta, and almost all of their Souls had roof racks, including the panoramic models, which had silver side rails. These side rails have the same mounting points as the flat trim strips on a regular Soul, but raised up so the sunroof doesn't hit the crossbar. Seems like a good solution to me.

Sadly, however, unless there is some mounting point under the plastic side strip, it is not possible to mount a Canadian-style side rail on a Panoramic roof Gen II Soul, unless you can find the mounting points and weld them in place.

If anyone can get a roof rack to work on the Gen II Soul with Panoramic Sunroof, please let me know!

Bummer.

Maybe Kia figures putting anything on the roof will impact the EVs range and /or performance too significantly so they deleted the rest of the anchors on the roof??

Have you looked at naked /normal roof (for roofs without any rails or rain gutters) options? Hooks reach down and hook the door frame.

Like this one from Thule... you can just make out the hooks on the side in the photo.

Thule never got back to me about a compatible model. I was looking at the Thule Rapid Traverse w/ AeroBlades.

Good Luck
would these work with gen 2?

I have confirmed with Kia Canada that these rails will fit all Gen II Souls with the factory roof bolt fitment threaded holes which are covered with the plastic fascia strips , There are 2 "caps" on top of each rail which align with the factory bolt holes so it looks like they are Universal .The Kia rep assured me they wouldn't make a unique fitment for a small market like Canada ............I see the same rack is on the European models as well , if I can assist with any more info or help with an order let me know . I've put my dealer on notice that some US folks my want to order and of course they are certainly happy to oblige ..............
Cheers
I do not have caps on my fascia strips can I still put on roof rack 2018 kia soul ex .?
