horn issue has gotten worse as it approaches 2yrs of ownership. My wife nearly had accident few weeks ago but the problem can't be reproduced consistently. it works find whenever I get a chance to call the dealer to make an appointment and I have already taken the vehicle to dealer twice but "nothing is wrong".
This time around, my wife and I have been checking the horm three times a day to "grab" the time when its not working so I can do some diagnostics myself. One time I was able to make the horn work again after tapping on the relay. I took the relay apart and looked inside and everything looked "good/clean" and I didn't see any corrosion or cut wires etc. as of now I have inserted brand new relay from the dealer #95224-2D000 [$17.50] so I will be checking the horn again for next month to validate if relay is a problem or something else.
I have called KIA and have a case open on this issue. I suggest you do the same so KIA knows/tracks about this issue. KIA confirmed dealer can't claim warrantee on randomly replacing parts without confirmation of exact problem. Fair, but if this is occurring too many here in the forum, it must be occurring in high percentage of owners. I had to pay for the relay and if problem persist, I will be getting rid of the KIA and this will be our last.

New to the forums, recently bought my wife a black 2010 Soul+. Love the car, but yesterday noticed the issue with the horn as described here. Took it to the dealer showed the first person i saw that it didn't work. The salesman said oh yeah take that to the service dept... i literally moved the car 20ft(still running) to show the tech and of course it worked again. I scheduled an appointment to get it looked at this morning but of course it didn't act up for them so they told me they couldn't do anything. They said if it ever did it from 8a to 5p to take it over and leave it running. so from now on anytime we get close the the dealer we are gonna honk the horn and hope lightning strikes.

Same problem here with my 2011. It cuts out intermittently when driving and when setting the allarm with the fob. They kept it for a whole day and had no problem. They said next time it happens bring it in right away. Happened today. I drove it 20 miles testing all the way only to have it start working 100 yards from the dealer. I am ready to take a sledgehammer to the horn. It always fails when I need it most. Is there a legal standpoint due to it not being roadworthy if the horn does not work?
I have started to have the same horn issues.

Mclaird...what Milwaukee dealer do you go to? And has there been any resolution to this problem?

2011 Soul here. 52,000 miles. I've almost been hit 3 or 4 times by stoopid people not paying attention, and just coming on over........ I am going to start shooting, I guess..... Stoopid horn will work when locking the car with the key fob (SOMETIMES), but it just will not work pressing the steering wheel...

I would have the dealer check the clock spring asap. Before your warranty runs out.

I have taken my Soul back to the dealer 4 times. Most of the time it isn't working until I pull into their drive way. The service dept's answer we can't check for intermittent problems. Never knowing if or if not the horn is going to work is .............;!

Need to check with BLEAKLINE182 below and get that service advisory.

Count my 2011 Soul! as another occurrence of this problem, Sometimes it honks, sometimes not. I'd be interested in a copy of bleakline182's advisory bulletin. Someone earlier mentioned problems getting this issue taken seriously. It is a safety issue! I believe that here in Missouri and possibly other states, the car will not pass a safety inspection without a functioning horn. No passed inspection, no license plate. it matters!

Soul Horn

Hello,

I have had this random intermittent horn issue myself for almost a year now. I have taken it back to the dealership 3 times to get this worked out and got KIA Corporation involved as well. FYI they say this FORUM dont exist cause used this page to show them that I wasn't the only owner with this issue. KIA did fix my horn after they had it for 3+ months and they gave me a loaner in the processes. Things that was changed in the process New horn on the first trip, the Second trip they changed the pads and horn contacts, I was getting updates from the KIA rep that was put in charge of my case. The final update that i was given was the whole wiring inside the steering column was replaced and the had a bad ground contact. My Soul now has 2 grounds and the one on the finder wall wasn't contacting correctly due to the paint. So don't let KIA or the service department tell you it's nothing wrong with the car they know and I have a case number to prove it.
