2012 KIA with now 7 issues for the same problem starting at 67,000 miles and this is your first post after 102,000 miles...??? Interesting.

 

The knock sensor and O2 sensor are not even close to each other. I don't understand the connection.

I do know that 02 sensors begin to go out of spec at around 40 k miles and by 60 something miles they are running the engine way rich.

On past cars that I'd keep for over 50 k miles, I would change the 02 sensor and get a big boost in MPG and performance.

Just a thought!

(if I were your dealer, the 02 sensor would be the first thing to go. Because an engine running too rich, can cause problems in the Catalytic Converter)

Wouldn't a check engine light come on if the O2 sensor was out of wrack?

Tech- the Field Service Techt? If the dealer can't figure it out then the FST should be called out to look at it. Since it has been going on so long, hopefully Kia will cover it.

 

One thing I've heard of making the knock sensor go off, is by putting the wrong gas/ bad gas in your car

 

I am getting the CEL for knock sensor and will change my O2 sensors. thanks for the info. i will report back if my MPG goes up.

 

Once you price new O2 sensors, you may want to rethink that statement! They are the LAST thing I'd change, certainly not the first!
