Kia Soul Driver Age

i owned a Nissan Cube and during that time I was asked frequently how I ever got into that little thing. It had more room and comfort than my previous Jeep Grand Cherokee. The drivers seat was high enough to give the same effect that you are still riding in a full size SUV. I had read the reviews before purchasing and besides being portrayed as a college age kids car or a chicks car, it also said old people liked it. The seats and doors were high enough so the old knees didn't have to bend much. Head room was more than enough for one of those old funky super wide floppy brimmed hats that you see on senior citizens. Vision was great with the high seating and wide high windows. And it’s size, smaller in length than the Queen Mary, made parking and U-turns easy. My 2022 Kia Soul EX has similar qualities for the older drivers including the infotainment center that will help to stimulate the aging brain.

Ok, so those members over 60 years old, if there are any, find the Kia Soul is not just for the young ones. You can admit your age only or also add why the Kia Soul appeals to you as an older driver.
I AM 91...do I hear 92?

I’m “only” 78, I I traded my 2011 Forte EX for a 2020 Soul EX because it was getting tough to vend dow to get into the Forte. My back has always had problems since Vietnam. I’m 6’7” and I really like the legroom and headroom in the car. It’s comfortable on long trips and you can cram a lot of stuff in it. So far, I have had zero problems with it.

You’re a youngster. I think I became sold on the Kia because of the seat. It felt like the seat was embracing your back. I’m 6’7“ as well and have two sons the same height who are comfortable in the back seat. I have the electric seat, which unfortunately when it’s raised moves closer to the dash where my shins could rub on the bottom edge of the dash. The telescoping wheel does not come out far enough so my arms, 37”, are stretched straight out. I solved that by installing* the old necker's knob which makes driving much more comfortable.

Mighty fine words. Thank you. I’ll take all of those I can get. And I haven’t hit anyone yet, driving that is. Have no explanation on longevity but I might make a list starting with a shot of whiskey with a beer every day at happy hour and no women.

67 here as well. I like the seat height, after my old Subie Impreza, and the fact that it handles the snow almost as well as the Subie used to here in coastal RI. With the right tyres, it does just fine.

It seems appropriate to throw in Eddie Munsters Drag Coffin.

I'm only 48, but rotund and love the roominess of my Soul. My father will be 90 this October and loves it as well. He has a harder time getting around but finds it an enjoyable ride to the doctor's office and visits with family. Got two more years of payments, but this will be my last car unless something happens to it. Even then I'd use the insurance money to get another one. Warmed my heart reading this thread.

I'm 70, and part of the reason I initially chose my Kia Soul is because with arthritis it's getting difficult for me to get out of a car with low seats. The Soul is perfect for me; it's easy to get in and out of among its other great features.

I am 63 and I do have to admit this is the coolest car I have ever owned. Seriously. It does make me feel young-spirited and happy to drive it. I made sure to get a bright happy colour ( bright green) in order to express my positive feeling about this car. I have a secondhand 2019 KIA SOUL with very low mileage. Roomy inside. I feel like it is sort of a crossover because I di sit a bit higher than regular cars. Which I like. But the coolest thing is. That most KIA Soul drivers I come across here in Los Angeles give each other either a smile or thumbs up. or when possible complement each other's car.LOL I seriously believe KIA SOUL drivers are a special group of folks.

I’m well under 60 for now but have a bad back and getting in and out of the Soul is very easy. I used to make a lot of creaking noises getting in and out of my old Elantra when my back was acting up. I usually see people older than me driving Souls. Ease of entry, fuel efficiency, lots of interior space, and at one time the Soul being inexpensive is likely some reasons older folks are attracted to it.

...Love my 6 speed Soul, blows people away when they see the shifter sticking up between the seats. Rare sight these days….
When walking through a shopping center parking lot to / from my car, I'll sometimes slightly alter my path so that I can glance in to a nearby fellow parked Kia Soul to see if by chance, by luck, it is a stick. Not very many on the road.

I am 72 and purchased my Soul because, at the time, I had two 15 year old cars each with 120,000+ miles on them. I figured I better have one car that could be considered "newer". I like the "box" cars and spent a lot of time looking at them online. My Soul was 1 year old with 15,000 miles (so this was new to me !)

I use the Soul to go back and forth between Tucson and San Diego.
When I am in Tucson, the Soul stays in the garage and I drive another
car which I love and is absolutely comfortable - my 2003 Chevy
Trailblazer EXT. Am very happy with both cars.

Good to hear. You’re fortunate to live in an area that doesn’t use salt on the road. After garaging the Kia I can almost hear the wet salt crunching on the car. By the time I would get your kind of mileage I’d have only seats, tires, and an engine left.

I was in my late 50s when I got my Soul. Back when it first came out and the hamsters and all, I never thought I would have one. It just wasn't "me," was not marketed for me or my people. Then Overly Attached Girlfriend Laina got one and I thought yeah, it was definitely not me, but good for Laina.

I was at the Kia shop to get a small sedan to replace my aging Focus, and they had a 2015 certified used Soul, black, base model, and the salesman talked me into sitting in it. He told me lots of people of a certain age love it. Well, that car fit me better than any small car I have ever driven. High, upright seating, plenty of interior space, and great visibility out the glass (for the most part). I upgraded my radio to a Pioneer with CarPlay and added a backup camera and passing alerts. I love this car.

I'm 63 now, and although I am in good health, my body appreciates the ease of getting in and out of the car and the general comfort of driving it. I use a comfy seat cushion now, though, because none of your business, but it helps.

This is a fantastic bargain of a car even with what the base model had in 2015. It runs as quietly and smoothly as a new car. I have no problem with highway driving in it, even in Eco mode. It is a wonderful complement to our Forester. I tell everyone how great this car is for seniors. I hope to have another one some day when I pass this one to my kids or whoever.

31 here. I have always loved the first gen Scion XB and I was crushed when Scion went away. Luckily, the third gen Soul revived the look and improved the performance with the turbo. All my coworkers make fun of me for it almost daily, but I've grown to like it. With all the work I'm doing to it I'm hoping to get the younger generation a bit more interested in it.

It is fun racing my coworkers with their Honda's, Acura's, and V6 mustangs and pulling away from them all. That usually shuts them up for a while. ;)

I’m 64, husband will be 90 next month. We both drive our 2021 EX & love it. We traded up from our 2013. We live in the Villages, a large 55 + community and the Soul is super popular here. They’re everywhere. We even belong to the Villages KIA Soul Club! Which has over 80 Souls, and 160+ members. Our other car is a golf cart! :)
