Every 10 miles on the freeway I get these warning POPUPS with accompanying alarm sounds. It doesn't do it in town in stop and go, only on the freeway. Took it to my dealership and asked if they could hook up to the car and read the errors for me, they said no I had to make an appointment, "A WEEK FROM NOW" as you can see this is a brand new car with only 189 miles on it.

I don't have any of those systems on my car, but my guess would be a single common problem rather than 5 separate problems. A forward facing camera or sensor is blocked or out of calibration or something.

Check your owner's manual and see if it gives you a hint where it is located (my guess would be the grille, maybe the bumper.) See if you can see anything obviously amiss.

Manual might have a caution 'make sure this sensor doesn't get blocked' or some such.

I'm so glad my car doesn't have any of that wonderful stuff.

I'm guessing it is a sensor as well. Maybe a defective sensor from factory. I'm just gonna have to drive with the annoying noises until next week.

@Rio Rider check this out, annoying popups south of the border. The thought just occurred to me, maybe your forward camera is slightly misaligned, making it think you are constantly swerving into the other lane? Just a total wild a$$ guess on my part, the first thought that made sense to me after the possibility that Canuck Kias were subsidized by ads for Tim Hortons ☕ coffee

The high beam and lane assist do not work below 35mph, usually above 40mph is when they go active which may explain why you are not having the warnings when driving in town. The issue will likely come down to the camera but that is just a plain guess as we can't look at the car for you and scan it or test it just basing it on the fact that all those systems rely on the camera.

I do have the rear camera but mine is video only. I guess it's the low pressure area on the tailgate because yes the road grime quickly makes the picture blurry and a little snow whites out the screen altogether. It's more of a novelty item that I think younger drivers probably enjoy than anything you want to rely on being there when you need to back up.

I always forget it’s there. I might have used it a few times when I first got the car, it’s the first car of mine that’s had rear backup cam. It felt weird looking at a screen and backing up. So I do what I’ve done for year and just turn and look over my shoulder and in the mirrors. Maybe someday I’ll get used to it. But yeah, mine gets filthy fast too. Im glad my car doesn’t have these “features”

My brand new 2023 Soul EX had the same problem which I discovered the second day after I bought it.

Second day as I was going about 50, all these warnings and system failures kept popping up on the dash. Returned to the dealer a few days later as it was a holiday weekend.

Dealer "calibrated the front camera" and took it for a short drive on the freeway and told me the problem was fixed. Nope.

For a couple days, I only drove short trips around town. Then took it on the freeway and after 18 minutes all those same front camera-based systems fail one after the other and post warnings on the dash. After about ten minutes the camera reboots (apparently) and works fine, but then crashes again over and over.

Return to the dealer. Dealer orders a new camera.

Return to install the new camera. Dealer can't get the new camera system to work and opens a ticket with Kia. Kia comes out to inspect the vehicle.

Kia advises to reload the software. Dealer does so and the car has worked fine ever since.

The situation was a disappointment, but the dealer treated me well and provided loaner cars for the whole process.

Kia customer care called me a few days later to confirm I was satisfied with everything.

Ya, that's how it used to be with computers. Just re-boot, and everything's hunky dory.
You got good service and a follow-up is icing on the cake. That's the way to keep customers and gain more word-of-mouth promotion. Good job, Kia.

I'm hoping that's what's going to be my situation. It's the only glitches in this car so far, the easily dirty camera and the warning. Why, ... we don't even have Tim Horton Coffeeshops at that tight an interval

UPDATE
___

Dealership Description of Service:
Scanned for codes and has C272146 active (System Calibration Required ). Multiple warning lights on. Tried to calibrate the front camera but it will not register the far range calibration. after several attempts got the camera to calibrate then road tested vehicle and no warning lights on and system is operating normal. after road test scanned for codes and no codes came back.

____

So hopefully this fixes the issue. I didn't feel like driving 20 miles to try and get it to trip the warnings again, so next trip I take I will keep an eye out and update this post again.

UPDATE:

Took it back in today for the same issue. I guess they didn't fix the problem. They have had my car for 11 hrs. and it is 6pm now so I guess they are going to keep it over night without calling me to let me know. I'll follow up when I get my car back. CA Lemon Law sounds really good about now, I'm gonna have to look into what it covers.

UPDATE:

I dropped my car off at 7am Apr 26 and was the first person in line for the doors to open. They took it in and got me a Uber home. My dealership DID NOT call me to let me know they were keeping my car over night. I called them over 15 times letting it ring for over 3-5 min each call from 3:30pm till 5:50pm sporatically, wondering why it would take so long to "adjust some sensors". Today Apr 27 at around 4pm I had a friend drive me over there since they will not answer the phone. They told me that they moved some pins or something in the sensors "they were vague" and said you can take your car home and if you get the errors again to come in right away no appointment. They said they had to call, I guess a KIA Master Tech, and that they will leave my file open in the computer in case I have a problem again. So I never got a paper saying they worked on my car. The only thing I got was 6 miles extra driven in my car by a worker and and not having a car for about 2 days.

I will probably not go to this dealership again after this, there is a Kia 24 miles from me so I will probably go there for service. My Kia has really bad Yelp reviews and this 24 mile away Kia has pretty decent, well at least better reviews than my Kia.

The Saga will Continue. Sorry about the rant! I'm PO'ed

Well, Kia has a neat trick for this potential, to which I fell a victim of 'convenience'. My 2016 went into limp home mode. My road club would not rescue me because of the weather imposing a high load on their service calls. So, with the potential of leaving the car abandoned and the security risks of that (I, as usual, had a lot of sundry gear in the car ), I drove home.

The car had had the ten year warranty service done through the recall program. I got my car club to deliver the car to the dealer, next day. It started and ran easily, as if it were new, and I drove it to the tow truck. The driver rolled it up onto the flatbed with no troubles.

I have a less than stellar filing system, so had no readily accessible records of oil changes. That was key, to Kia. They left me high and dry, as the car was now in their lot, and I had no vehicle.

OPPORTUNITY was so good for Kia. Immediately, they found a BRAND NEW Soul was available, and I, given the duress of the moment, agreed to the push to sell another car.

The Kia roadside assistance program has the 'covered' car delivered to a dealership. They can tell you anything. With so much of the vehicle today computerized, the driveway mechanic has little option. When I mentioned the use of an automotive code reader, the sales guy said "Why would you do that? Get the car in here and we'll deal with it right away, without delay. We're not the big dealership where you have to wait a few days". I want to have a second opinion and preferably BEFORE the dealership gives me their line on it.

So, I actually wanted a Toyota or better, a VW, for its length and strong roof racks for carrying my kayak gear. Now, here I am strapped with a Bank loan, to a car that simply INSISTS on how I should drive. It's very restrictive. For example, if a pothole looms ahead of me, I'd like to swerve, but the car lightly resists that, and considers it, after-the-fact, as inattentive driving and repeats to me to 'consider taking a break'.

I cannot shut off that system, though I would like to have an option to do so. Further, when I'm back in the boonies on a paddling excursion, I have to take the damned key fob with me, exposing it to water damage. I could remove a door handle cover to expose a keyway, but that too, would put at risk the loss of the said cover in a wilderness I can't imagine the inconvenience of ordering that part and the cost would probably be dramatic, IF it could be ordered to colour match.

In view of all the aforesaid, I have to say I'm really impressed by the cars tranny, engine and ride. All are superior to my 2016. If it would just SHUT UP instead of every few (I mean few) minutes telling me to stop driving. What the hell did I buy the car for? Just to park at roadside every few minutes? CRAP !!

There was a time when I looked forward to the next model year which was almost guaranteed to be nicer, faster, more efficient, or more reliable than the prior year's models.

I think that improvement arc peaked about 15 years ago and is now accelerating downward.
May be.

The transmission and engine in this car are super smooth and responsive.

I have to admit I have only put it into sport mode a couple of times; just to feel it. Quite a difference.

The newer developments in 'drive assist' - I dunno.

I doubt I'll get to drive an autonomous vehicle. I might feel claustrophobic. I mean, at this point, I can still stop for a pee break. I wouldn't want to hear "Don't do it, Dave ..."

UPDATE:
So it is May 23, 2023 And I still do not have my car back. They had the "Unit Assembly Front View Camera - Kia part (99211-K0500)" on backorder then they told me May 17, On May 19 I called in and they said that it hasn't arrived yet and they would call me with a ETA. May 22 is when they Text me telling me that the new ETA is the 28th. My car has been sitting there IN THE SUN since May 2. I have contacted a Lemon Lawyer and we are about to be in the works. I keep my cars in the garage and this new car has not been ceramic coated yet, so Having it sit in the sun for a month is not making me happy. Not to mention they dented and scratched my driver front door and I had to point it out to them. they "fixed" it but you can still see the dent so I told them to try again.

Hey there , so glad I found your discussion starter and this group. I just got my new 2023 GT on Saturday , May 15th. ( the only miles on it were 17 I put from a test drive) - on the way home ...guess what started happening on the open road back?! 😫 ( everything same thing that happened to you ) I was freaked out and hoped it was just some random fluke - when it wasn't that week , I brought it back to them that Wednesday- drove it , put it on the computer , the whole thing - they saw nothing. They have had it 2 times so far and I even mentioned I felt like it came on over a certain speed . They didn't know of a solve to this , so I've glad I found what hopfully is your solution. I had also called Kia customer service and started a case. I am going to call them back and mention that I had found other owners going thru the same thing. I hate that you have to wait so long for the car and hope that works for you. I'll be checking back in for sure.

UPDATE:

Sunday June 25, Kia still has my car. I have lost all hope in ever getting the car back. I went over there about 2 weeks ago and saw my car was completely covered in dirt dust and freeway soot, since the lot is 50 feet away from the freeway it seems. maybe all that gunk is protecting the paint from sun damage. They called me Friday June 23 and said it should be ready Sat morning. Yet again another lie. They have officially owned my car longer than I have owned it. 1 month and 24 days. I have been paying 510.00 a month finance payments and I am driving a Enterprise Rental 2019 Honda CRV that smells like Cigarettes' and Carpet Shampoo. Of course Kia is paying for the rental but if I wanted a Honda I would have went to the Honda Dealership. Sorry for no updates. I'm just tired.

@Red5 Good Luck Friend. they said they "fixed my dent/scratch" and that the work on the (9921-K0500) part was done and all they needed to do was detail my car and that was on Friday. 23rd. maybe I will get a call Monday but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

I am having the same exact issue... I purchased my Soul in March and it has not stopped doing this since then.. I drive 35 miles to work each way 5 days a week so yes it is doing it daily.. the dealer thinks I am making this up.. I brought it to them 3 freaking times now and they have not fixed the problem..he told me I need to record what is happening while I am driving on the highway... cause that is smart.. I have lost hope that anyone is fixing this for me..

Update: July 5th 2023

I finally got my car back from the dealership. They had it for 2 months and 3 days. I drove about 35 miles one way and back and did not get any errors, So I guess it is fixed. this is the result written in my paperwork.

" Electrical: Electrical related repair
C/S: Customer states Check Forward Safety System, (and all the others errors I have mentioned) Come on while driving.

Upon inspection no warning lights on. scanned for codes and has C272246 and C183186 as History.
after the pin tension adjustment and camera calibration the other code did not come back.
updated Tech line case and sent in info after what was done and was advised to replace front
camera and recheck.

Installed 99211 K0500 : Unit Assy - FR view CA
95895F02 Front Camera Assy, R&R 0.80
removed and replaced front camera and calibrated
road tested vehicle then rechecked for codes, No Codes. "

So @michellemarini27 and @Red5 those are the codes my car got and those are the part numbers of the things they had to fix.

My car was Filthy, layers of Dust and Spiderwebs all over the outside of car and dirty oily fingerprints all over the inside of my driver door plastics and dirty shoes scuff marks on the bottom of the door plastics and kick panel. They said let me detail your car for you before you leave. It took them 3 min they sprayed it with a hose. Still dripping and now mud dripping from the car with wet spiderwebs.
They did repair the dent they made in my door but did not fix the scratch on my door handle. before I showed up to dealership I got a low battery alert on my phone so I told them to check that. I do not think they did because it was not in my paperwork Nor is anything about doing my recall work. Nothing is written about the recall stuff they said they would complete. Never going back to that dealership I will drive 40 min to a different dealership for getting work done.

This exact same thing happened to me on my 2023 Soul EX during the 2nd week I had it -- has happened about 6 times in total and today I finally brought it in to the dealer to address. Car has less then 1,000 miles on it -- it's been in the shop all day today; they say it's the camera but can't seem to adjust or remount it in a way that doesn't set off other sensors. I'm in a rental/loaner now and hoping they get it fixed quickly -- appreciate you sharing your experience, @grashopa, or I would have been even more freaked out when this happens!

Not sure where you are but here in the north that happens every morning on every car till the windshield clears and the frost is off the front radar. Obviously anything skewing the view of the camera through the glass such as frost or condensation makes it inoperable so the car warns you that it can't trust it till you clear it. Same thing if your car has the front radar, any blockage on it makes it stop working.

Both SebastianSmurf and Myself are in South and North CA so no snow or frost really. It was "part number 99211 K0500 : Unit Assy - FR view CA 95895F02 Front Camera Assy, R&R 0.80 " that was the problem. The camera its self. Seems to be a problem since about 3 of you folks have the same issues. It is Dec 2023 now and I have about 3k miles on the car with no more issues.

#47 ·
Sorry to hear, @littlemsjsmom -- my car was in the shop for 3+ months with this issue, as the camera assembly needed to be replaced but the part was on backorder and had to be obtained from South Korea. I got the car back 3 weeks ago with the new camera, and the problem has happened AGAIN -- just dropped it off today and am hoping they can get it fixed/solved more quickly this time.

#48 ·
Oh dear. Just got my 2024 Soul EX 6 days ago and experiencing the same issue with the check systems warnings. Happened the day I drove home with it, the next morning, and today. I'm going to make an appointment with service and let them know what y'all went through. I'm going to brace myself for the long haul. Traded a RAV4 with 195k miles on it, that never had an issue. Starting to regret not spending the extra to buy another Toyota.

For me it took a front camera unit replacement and then when they couldn't get that working they opened a ticket with Kia and Kia told them to reload the software. I think I went through three different loaner or rental cars.

First they failed by test driving it for only a few minutes, it didn't fail. Then they tried recalibrating the camera and again didn't drive it long enough to see that it wasn't fixed.

By now the knowledge base has hopefully increased and they can fix it faster.

I'm struggling with this problem as well -- they replaced the camera (which was on backorder and took 3.5 months to get from Korea), but the problem has repeated with the new camera and my Soul is currently back in the shop for its 3rd (or 4th? I've lost track) stay. Very frustrating.
