Actually what is peeling is paint , that wheel is aluminum that is clear coated . I would think that should be under warranty .

Having said that , it is very important not to use any abrasive cleaners or brushes on these wheels , it would be the equivalent of doing the same thing to your paint job . As it will most definitely shorten the life of the finish .

How long have you owned the car , and how many miles ?

 

Less than a month, 1400 miles.

 

This should be covered under your warranty.
Take it to the dealer where you bought it for replacement wheels.
Most(pretty much all) vehicle manufactures contract out parts.
I'd thing the wheels were made by a company other than Kia.AS i lrve near a Kia
assembly plant I can attest that the plant is surrounded with various companies making different
components.Obviousy the wheels were specialy done for the ! models.The black accents
appear to be peeling from either heat or a combo of brake pad dust and brake heat.
Maybe the surface was not cleaned properly before the black accents were applied?
Its not gonna get any better.It is possible that your ! has wheels from a defective bunch.

If it were me I'd tell the dealer,"Its not my problem,I WANT ALL THE WHEELS RELACED"!

Do you have 19" or 18" rims? I have not seen that on my Exclaim but I will be checking. Please keep us posted.

 

Probably 18, I'm not sure.

 

19" OEM rims were never available on Soul's, must be after market if this is so, put on by the dealer possibly.

 

These are stock Exclaim Rims. I bought the car brand new. They have the plastic covers that say SOUL. I could be wrong, they might be 18 inch rims.

 

On a positive note...you do appear to have well manicured hands!

I went to the dealer yesterday, and they took pictures, and told me that they have to turn in a warranty claim and they will get back to me by Wednesday. The service manager told me that he is sure they will replace all 4, even though only the two drivers side rims are peeling.

Now the passenger side rims are peeling like this, and it happened after going through the car wash both times. It doesn't make sense that they would charge extra for rims that fall apart in a normal car wash.

 

I would look at the car wash as being the culprit. At least, I would find a different car wash to use once you get your replaced on KIA's dime.

 

Since at this point you are the only one with that problem at least reported here it doesn't appear to be an overall problem with the rims. Seems more specifically your rims for some reason. FYI I have been through the car wash several times and my '14 18" rims so far are perfect.

 

That looks like the top coat. I had the same peeling issue with my clover wheels. Got all 4 replaced under warranty.

One of my wife's wheels had the same problem. The dealer ordered a new one. Took about a month to get it though. It was overseas. I'll be watching the others closely.
