Hi all, been trying to diagnose a problem I've had with hesitation when I come to a stop/slow speed and also as I begin to speed up. Think perhaps I FINALLY narrowed it down, but been researching and can't find some things, so hoping for some help and thanks a ton!
Ran a test while driving yesterday w/ my OBII reader and the Torque app. I was getting bad results for the VVT Monitor Bank 1. It would fluctuate between failing and working (had readings from 93.37 to 133.5 while driving and range should be 108-141.75). After researching, seems this is the intake variable valve timing solenoid and I'm guessing it's not opening/closing as it should most likely from being clogged or a power issue. I've seen how to test and clean this part so I wanted to do that, but trying to be sure of the location and can't find online. Also, while searching saw an old post here where someone asked about cleaning an oil screen/filter and seems to be within a line somewhere but have no idea where that is? I'm posting some pics w/ descriptions below. Please help if you're familiar w/ all this and/or if you have any other suggestions of things to check/clean, thanks!
2 pics of my engine and I've circled what I think is the intake VVT solenoid? Is it correct? Or please let me know where it is.
Here is the pic of the screen location they mentioned (some info below the pic) for my same vehicle but I don't see any lines that look like this? If there's anyway you can point to where it'd be on a photo above, that'd be great!
Fyi, here was a pic of the test result I got when it failed. If you've seen my past posts, you know I've had this problem for a long time and I went back and looked at past test results and also had this failure, so I'm really hoping this is the actual problem causing all this mess. The mess that "mechanics" here in the DR have been misdiagnosing for over 1.5 yrs and cost me a lot in replacing parts ugh!!! Just hoping that I haven't caused any problems to the timing/engine from driving with this. I've probably only driven 3,000 miles over the past 1.5 yrs since the problem started. Thanks again for the help!
