Is there a governor for top end on the Soul?

What is the top end?

Peace

Car and Driver got 110 for the 2012-2013 1.6 (Gamma) auto and 115 for the 2.0 (Nu) auto. The Nu stick made it to 121.

Drag limited.

My '07 Spectra was supposed to be capable of about 115-120, I believe those were governed. I know at 100 it wasn't ready to quit. Much better aero.

I was VERY hesitant to crack 100 because the car started to feel really light at that speed. We decided to swap over to some Z-rated tires and better wheels from my buddies car, and try again. The car was still getting light, but I was able to feel the road better so I kept pushing it.

Oh and the THEORETICAL top speed for the Nu based on gearing is 185 for the auto and 167 for the 6 speed LOL

I've seen over 100mph in my 2013 Soul, 1.6L. But, like someone else said, "I run out of road".
The only place around here where I can turn her loose and let'r run is on I-75, where the daily cruising speed is 80+.
But I still have to deal with traffic.
I did see 110mph, once, before I ran out of space and had to back off.
Gertrude felt like she just wanted to keep on going.
She seems to be the happiest at something over 80mph.

I had a friend with me a few days ago and I was cruising right along at 90mph in traffic and he said it felt like 60.
He was amazed at how quickly the little car got up to speed and how stable it felt.

My little Soul is incredibly stable at high speed, with my OEM Hankook tires at 42psi (cold).
Too little tire pressure can, and usually will, make the car feel 'squirly'.

If it were possible to RED-Line the engine in 6th gear, I'd probably be doing 180mph or better.
But we all know, that's not going to happen. Eh?

Have a Safe and Happy 2013.

highest short burst I've had on mine (passing a convoy of big-rigs on the 401 in heavy rain) is 135 kmph (84 mph), legal limit is 100 kmph (62), felt extremely stable and that's with the OEM 18" Nexans set at 33 psi. I too, was impressed as to how quickly it got up to that speed from the 110 kmph that I normally drive at.

I have done a 100 mph "burst" and run for several miles at 95, but I agree it feels a little squirrelly up above 90. I think the air wash around the brick, and the short wheelbase, make it do odd things if you are changing lanes or maneuvering at high speed. In a straight line with little to no side wind, it feels good. And here at sea level, I think I could hit 120. Just can't afford the ticket should Johnny Law catch me in the act (about $800 here in CA). I know someone who did it.
