Hi folks!
I'm a 55-year-old guy in Upstate NY and just bought our Kia Soul on 10/1/2025. So far my girlfriend and I love the car!
Our 2016 Jeep Patriot had been, unexpectedly, a solid & reliable vehicle - however it started to develop body rust and corrosion in the electrical systems (thanks NY). So we set out to buy a replacement car. Since I'm disabled and we're not rich, our price range was limited.
We looked around in the under $17k bracket and found quite a selection. When I started researching these cars, I quickly found out that all of them rated poorly in reviews - except for 1; the Kia Soul. Seeing as it was the best rated, we limited our search to 2021+ Kia Souls. We found one - a 2021 - with 35k miles for only $15k. We researched that one's history a bit (luckily our bank offers free Carfax reports) and found it had been in 2 front-end accidents.
On to the next one, a Gray 2021 Kia Soul S. With 51k miles and at a price of $15,250, we decided to check that one out. We drove it, we liked it, and we put together the sale. While filling out the paperwork, the manager came over and offered to let us take the car home to make sure we wanted it - and also because the Jeep died in the parking lot when they went to appraise it for trade-in!
Well, we drove the little Kia home and we really liked it. We went to the bank to get the check to take back to the dealer. We drove over again and finished the sale! So apparently our Jeep decided for us which car to get!
Again, we love the car and are still learning all the features. Oh, and yes - I did make sure it had the recall done! It looks like the engine was replaced, so the car and transmission have 51k miles - but the engine only has about 1k miles.
I can't wait to learn from all you folks and join in the Soul family!
