Since souls have oddball bulb sizes and honestly feels quite lacking to provide adequate sight at night I've installed additional lighting to my wifes car, a 20" rough country single row light bar behind the front bumper. The front bumper comes off rather quickly, watched a couple quick tutorials on YouTube and had the whole thing off in about 20 minutes.
Instead of mounting the light behind the grill I decided to make some brackets out of some bent flat plate. Angle iron or even channel iron would probably still work just fine. The mounting point I used is behind the plastic bumper on the crash bar, its about 4" tall and 4' wide.
I actually didnt have to buy any hardware, only used what came in the lighting kit to mount the brackets to the crash bar. When drilling holes, to maintain elevation on mounting points to where the light would be most unobstructed, bottom of bracket to center of mounting hole was 4⅝".
I think it turned out pretty well, ran the wiring through the fender on drivers side and installed a push button switch near the gear shifter on the center console. I'll attach more pictures when I drive my wife's car next and try to get a video of how much difference this install has made to driving backroads at night.
This is the button I wired up and installed on the gear shifter trim, cheap price but feels well built and has worked flawlessly for a couple weeks now already
