I lost my key fob but I had a spare one in my car. I unlocked the door using a mechanical blade key Because my 2021 Soul LX doesn't have a transponder, the blade key should also start the car. I tested this previously and it worked. This time, I was unable to start the car with either the mechanical blade key or the spare fob. When I turned both keys over, they set off the alarm, the lights and heat came on, but the car wouldn't start. I tried a number of different things involving locking and locking the door with each key and finally got both of them to start the car. I had to call my locksmith to help me with this.
Q1 I'm trying to understand exactly how this works for future reference. I found this online: "“Pressing the unlock and lock buttons on the fob will disable the alarm and deactivate the antitheft ignition interlock.” Is this correct? Is there a set number of times you have to do this? It took several tries to get it to work.
Q2 How long would the horn keep beeping before stopping on its own? I don't trust myself to properly disconnect the battery, but if I can't get the car started, I don't want the horn to drain the battery either.
THANKS!
