Just thought I would post some FYI information on finding and installing a Homelink mirror that will work properly. The TLDR is don’t get an older mirror, get the newer 3-button Homelink 5 mirror, unless you want your Homelink to only work while your lights are turned on (explained below).
First off, the part number on the back of the mirror tells you what version of homelink the mirror uses.
ZTVHL3 - This is the old 5-button mirror (3 HL, 1 Power, 1 Compass button). Has Homelink V3 as designated by the HL3 in the part number.
TLMHL4 - This is the 7-button Hyundai Bluelink mirror (3 BL, 1 Power, 3 HL buttons). Has Homelink V4 as designated by the HL4 in the part number.
UAHL5A - This is the newer 3 button Homelink mirror with Homelink V5. According to FCCID.IO database, there’s also a 6-button (3 BL, 3 HL) Hyundai Bluelink version of this mirror that should theoretically work.
Per the attached wiring diagram, the older mirrors (ZTVHL3 and TLMHL4) power the Homelink buttons separate from the EC mirror and Compass. Homelink is powered from +12V constant off of pin 6, where as the EC mirror and Compass are powered off of +12V ignition from pin 10.
The 2021 Soul does not provide +12V constant on pin 6, it only provides +12V to pin 6 when the lights are turned on. I’m assuming this is supposed to be for mirrors with illuminated buttons, so they illuminate when the lights are turned on. (Oddly the factory UVO flip mirror with Illuminated buttons doesn’t even use pin 6).
The newer UAHL5A mirror no longer uses +12V constant, it doesn’t have a pin 6, it exclusively powers both the Homelink and EC mirror and Compass with +12V ignition from pin 10. This is the mirror you want, if you want plug and play compatibility and don’t want to have to rewire the harness.
Note: The older diagrams number the pins 1-10 left-to-right, whereas the newer mirror diagram numbers the pins 1-10 right-to-left. +12V constant is bottom left pin, and +12V ignition is bottom right pin, regardless of how they are numbered.
