2013: How much oil is too much oil?

Every automobile oil pump I have ever seen has a relief valve built into it , so I doubt over pressurization is a problem, but if the level gets high enough the crankshaft spins in the oil and froths it up, like a latte, and this "foaming" reduces oil pressure. It also increases the chance of sludge buildup over time(if you don't change your oil). I agree they probably dumped a full 5 quarts in (the 2.0 liter takes 4.5 quarts), so I doubt you are overfilled enough to cause an issue. To be safe you might want to remove a bit, but I don't think it is serious. If you notice after running it a bit, that the oil on the stick is foaming(lots of air bubbles) than YES get it out of there, otherwise, don't sweat it.
