I have a set of 4 yakima Q towers that have the 'A' landing pad that I need to sell, as I've lost my soul.
I had them mounted to 66" round bars which were great for moving big objects, but tended to whack me in the head.
I built custom mounting brackets that used 5mm cap screws to attach to the mounting points on the kia soul roof -- basically they are square or C tubing with a flat plate below and some EPDM rubber to avoid scratching the car. Took about 3 minutes to mount them, and, once on, you could easily clip the roof rack to them or remove it in a few seconds. Whole thing was rock solid .
you can buy a round bar pretty cheaply, and you probably shouldn't use a 66"!
Let me know if you'd like to buy this.
