Has anybody posted top speed attained? By now I would think someone has wound it out.

I just don't have the road or the guts to do it anymore. I think they arrest you if pulled for over double the speed limit, which mostly around here would be +110 or further away from Milwaukee it goes up to 65mph, so + 130. I'm not afraid of the speed, but the arrest and/or high dollar ticket worries me.

Years ago, I had my '86 Isuzu Impulse Turbo up to 125mph a few times. I think had it a little more left. That speedo went up to 140mph, if I recall correctly. Mine had the analog gauges, some of them had digital.

Car and Driver tested a 5-speed sport , and the top speed was 116 mph ( drag limited ) .. meaning if they had more room they may rang some more out of it ...

It is better to be on the high side than on the low side.

The gauge in my '82 Celica ended at 140km/hr but it would go 180. I always said to my friends "we have now entered warp speed" when the needle went past 140 on the scale (no physical stop for the needle).
My friends and I use to joke and wonder what would ever happen if I got pulled over for speeding.
The officer would likely ask "do you know how fast you were going young man?"
I would answer "no I do not officer."
The officer might ask "and why is that?"
I would have to truthfuly answer "because the gauge doesn't read past 140, sir."

My STOCK Tiburon would do 134, that's when the fuel cuts off.

This same engine in other cars with the same ECU cuts off in the 130 region.

I've had mine, after the intake and exhaust, to 120, at about 5700 RPM's.

I've been in 2 Soul's that both exceeded 100 (not saying one was or wasn't mine) and they both were limited at 105mph, meaning the engine started cutting out (governed) at 105mph. I talked to one other Soul owner that said they had experienced the same thing. Therefore it is my belief that all Soul's are limited by electronic means to 105mph max top speed.

Based solely on gear ratios, the auto tranny is faster. These are my calculations:
2.0L M/T: 107 MPH
2.0L A/T: 119 MPH

Hey you didnt figure the 1.6 manual or is it quicker?

Does 300 pounds lighter and loosing .6 liters of engine size 22hp = faster car.

I didn't factor in tire sizes for each. Sorry. I know that C/D said 116. The calculations I do not factor in vehicle weight, altitude, barometric pressure, gravitational force or wind resistance. These are the highest possible speed @ 6,000 RPM. In this table I have top speed for each gear.
1.6L M/T 15" 27.9 51.4 78.4 103.9 120.2
2.0L M/T 16" 30.9 52.2 86.1 107.6 131.5
2.0L M/T 18" 32.3 54.4 89.8 112.3 137.3
2.0L A/T 16" 33.6 63.2 97.9 137.4
2.0L A/T 18" 35.0 65.9 102.3 143.4

For greatest accuracy I would take 15-20 MPH off of the top speeds shown.

6th gear on my other orange ride cuts out @ 186mph, 5th has no limit. My other Ignite

Make sure you have a GPS to verify speeds. From what I've seen on my SE2, the speedo is fairly accurate with my GPS. I've attained a top speed of 85mph without any seeming drop off of "go power"

put a programmer on it and change the speed, thats what i did to my ram why make a 120mph and it cant do it? i just changed the speed to 120mph
