i know its a bit early to tell what the gen 3 average lifespan will be but i'm curious as to how high ppl are getting upto in their mileage and what will be the highest mileage reported, and how they feel about it after all those miles. i'm not even at 10K yet, pretty sure most of you can beat that!

Those little guys at KIA Engineering, like to GO! Can't blame them. I do too! So they designed an engine, that was meant to GO from day one. It belongs in a race car, more than a grocery getter. Driving one slowly will ruin it, for sure. Mine just seems to love it when I drive her like I stole her. Put the hammer Down and she's GONE!
I'd love to see the Soul power train in a little, low, streamlined sport car body. With great aerodynamics, 140 mph should be no problem at all. Heck I did 120mph in my flying brick, my 2020 Soul. lol

So on my KIA Soul #2, I'm up to about 17k and just coming up on my third Oil Change, since I bought her (used) last Christmas Eve, with 7800 Miles on the clock.
I had to break her in "Again" but since then she just keeps on getting Betterer and Betterer!
I've driven lots of performance cars in my 60+ years behind the wheel, but this little girl scares me some days.
Just pulling out onto the highway and putting the hammer down, she's a handfull. Both hands on the steering wheel is just SOP. Some times it's all i can do to keep her from running off the road and chasing a squirrel up a tree! :ROFLMAO:

Y'all know I like to joke a lot, eh? But in all truth, this 2020 KIA Soul is the hottest little 4-Banger I've ever owned.
And, I've owned a few!
I'll take a little credit for that, but not all of it. A lot of it goes to the boys at KIA Engineering, for creating this: 4 cylinder, 2.0L, 16 valve, Dual Overhead CAM, Atkinson Cycle engine with Variable Valve Timing, coupled to the first ever Intelligent Variable Speed Transmission, with Overdrive. It's like something right out of The Jetson's.

They have actually made some improvements to this car for 2023....thank you sir, I'll take one!
I test drove a 2023 Soul LX and I wanted to drive it home, but me and the finance man just could not get on the same page.

Hey FLHamster...I thoroughly enjoy your posts and how you liven up the Soul. I am seriously looking into getting the 2023 GT-Line with tech package and was concerned about the horror stories of the CVT (IVT in this case) and how the 2L engine sounds too buzzy on the new Soul. I was curious how the engine sounds compared to this segment of cars? Is it worse or same? I love the styling of the SOUL but now just have to convince the wife of it's shape :). This will be a first time Kia owner and have had Toyotas/Nissan/Mazda in the past. Thanks for any other information you can provide to a Kia Soul Newbie.

Sir, Newbie,
I can only say what I've personally experienced.... (No hear-say or rumors) I took a test drive, recently, in a 2023 Soul LX and compared to my current Soul it just felt "Better". I can't explain that! I go more by FEEL than by Looks. Sorry I can't explain it any better, but I definitely would have driven that 2023 home that very day, if me and the finance man could have gotten on the same page.
But, car prices and interest rates are going hog wild Crazy these days. And the dealers, will of course, take advantage wherever they can. They sure took advantage of me!

My current Soul LX is the second one I've owned. (well, me and the finance co.) I put over 36k on my first Soul, before she was totaled in a rear end collision, and I've put 10k+ on this one since last Dec 24th. And so far, not a single problem with the 2.0L engine or the IVT. They've both just worked great. And I do not baby her!
My first Soul, the 2013, had the six speed AT. It was great, but truthfully, I like the IVT better. I use the overdrive (8th gear) a lot, out on the highway. Most salesmen don't even know that the Soul with IVT HAS an 8th gear. lol

Notice the "8" in the lower left corner of the digital display.
Almost 60 mph, and the tack is still showing about 1800 rpm. Just chugging along!
I have one little trip I like to take which is ~30 miles, and I do the entire trip on less than one gallon of gas.
I've had motor cycles that didn't do that good. :)

But I do enjoy High Miling, in this time of rising gas prices. That means driving for the very maximum gas mileage.
I've owned quite a few 4 cylinder cars, over the years, but I never had one that would give me over 40 MPG, with just a little TLC. My Soul will!

On this same trip, one day, my average was 52.1 MPG. Yes, I had to work at it!

I once had a little Chevy Sprint Turbo, with the three cylinder, 1000 CC engine, + Turbo. I did squeeze 57 mpg out of that little car once, driving across the Mid West, on mostly flat roads. I did that by keeping the Turbo Light OFF, and driving at or under the speed limits.

If you do get a Soul, please come back and tell us how you like it. I'll gladly share my Speed Secrets with you.

Happy Holidays!

Getting decent mileage and is quite comfortable for my 78 year old 6’7” body.

I got your mileage beat all the way up to 13,000. 2022EX. The master window switch was a problem all two were replaced under warranty. Other than that the car has been perfect.

Just a tick below 29,000 miles now. I will have it for 3 years in November and other than the recalls and a reset on the left window switch, I have not had any issues with the powertrain. Will be bringing it in for a finicky volume switch (will not lower volume unless I press it down hard) on the steering wheel.

2021 51654 miles. Had the engine replaced at 48765.
Just turned 55,000 miles today. Still running like the day I bought it. While changing the oil this weekend I managed to dump a ~1/2 cup of oil onto the valve cover. 45 min later i had it cleaned up.

What was the reason for the engine change if you don't mind me asking?
