I'm wondering if anyone has any clever ideas for what do you with your phone, while it is connected to the USB port, when using Android Auto. Currently, I just have my cord wrapped up in a zip tie, connected to and stashed under my phone, while it sits in the little cubby hole area below the climate controls.

Has anyone out there done anything more "elegant"?

thanks!

I bought a gravity style mount that slips onto one of the blades of the vent next to the steering wheel. It has a notch in the bottom arm that allows the cable to be plugged into the phone, then the cable runs along the side of the console. The only problem I've had with it is having to re-tighten the pivot joint on the mount occasionally.

I have an inexpensive Rubbermaid caddy that I hang from one of the center console cup holders such that I can still use the cup holder and yet my phone isn't taking up any cubby space and I don't need to actually see the phone since I'm using Android Auto. I bought "Rubbermaid 3331-00 Vent Catch All Car Interior Organization Handy With Extra Storage and Compartments" Sorry I can't post a link cuz I'm a newbie :)

I think you could also hang it or use velcro to put it any number of places.

Here's three different devices I use with my phone:

The first one I use primarily in the trucks I drive, it's very secure and my charging cable plugs into the base of the holder then wraps around the arm, but due to the location of the 12v outlet in my soul it ends up in the way of the gearshift. The second one is what I use in my soul these days, it clips to the air vent to the right of the radio console, making convenient for use as a gps but keeping it out of the way of controls. The third one is what I used to use, but because of constantly switching it from car to truck then back to car, it broke, and that's why I now use two different holders that are dedicated to a specific purpose.

I found a cell phone holder that is a USB adapter for charging. Just plug it in and it clips to any size phone. It's perfect. My 12 Soul ! has 2 ports and so it sits perfectly out of the way of gear shift and steering. I use the smallest USB cord so nothing is hanging or tied up.
