Weeping Oil Pan

2003 Soul 2 liter - I was just quoted a price for the weeping oil on my oil pan during my last oil change. The Tech said it is a matter for applying a sealer and replacing the pan. The cost is $345.

Here are some questions:

How difficult would it be to drop the pan, seal it, and replace the pan?

What's the torque on the bolts?

What brand would be the correct RTV?

Try these. It’s for the second Gen but the engines are similar. It states the torque and rtv to use too.

What year is your Soul? I think there are at least 3 different 2.0l engines used over the years but no Soul in 2003.

I assumed 2013. Both 2.0L Nu, but his is MPI.

Sorry for the confusion. My Soul is a 2013.

It looks like I can handle this fix. In using the RTV as a sealant, surely it will involve more time in scraping and cleaning the pan. I will wait for my next oil change to tackle this fix.

Thanks for the info.
Did you check to see if the bolts are all tightened to torque specs?

No. I will check the torque in a couple of weeks. This oil change is two weeks old. The Tech assured me that it would be alright until m next oil change.

That's a good idea.
If you need to redo the seal, scraping and cleaning probably will be the most work I'll guess.
After getting access.
GLWFix.

Even though the Tech assured you, suggest you still regularly check your oil level - weekly, bi-weekly depending on how quickly you rack up the miles - to be on the safe side. If the Tech by chance happens to be wrong, that assurance won't mean squat to the burnt up engine.

You're right. If I drive 35 miles a week, it's too much. I am watching my driveway and checking the oil level.
Put a piece of cardboard under your car for the oil to drip on. That way, it won't stain your driveway and you can see where it's dripping from.
My present Soul doesn't drip a drop of oil but just about every other car I ever had did. I never worried about it though. If the leak is that small I wouldn't do anything except check the dipstick more often. $345 sounds like a lot for a relatively easy job.

True. I have not seen a stain on my driveway, after sitting for a week, or a reduction on the dip-stick. I will continue to monitor. Thanks for the advice.
