2012 Soul! - Intermittent, then consistent "Media Connection Failure" msg. when connecting USB music (PNY 16gb, 5gb used, 1-level folders). Worked fine for ~ 2yrs, failed in March 2014; dealer could not find problem, finally replaced USB port under warranty; worked fine until now (Dec 2014) same problem; intermittent for a few weeks, then totally **** the bed. USB drive works fine in Wife's 2013 Soul!, brothers' 2012 +, and PC laptop. Anyone else having this problem/ know of a solution (HELP - my 3-yr electronics warranty runs out this month!).

Update (12/12/14): thought I found the problem (hidden files: albumartlg.jpg/albumartsm.jpg/folder.jpg/desktop.ini) - erased all 4 from each folder, still no luck; re-formatted USB stick, re-loaded only .MP3 files, all 320kbs, still no luck. Bought new USB, loaded 1 song, still no luck. Going in for service 12/15 - we'll see if a new port solves the problem. BTW, stick is always left in socket, so it's not 'wear & tear', thanks for all your input, I'll update when solution is found

Maybe I'm missing something? Have it replaced under warranty before it expires. Chances are if it fails in another two years you will have to pay for it unless you get a sympathetic dealer or district rep.

Those little USB sockets do wear out, if you plug in and unplug your Flash Drive often. I've not had the problem on my Kia Soul, but I've seen it a lot on Home Computers and Laptops. I have one little HP Laptop with a defunct USB port. **It happens!

See if your dealer will fix it for you. But first, try another USB device.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays!
