I am not sure why they have us do this, but anyway. I am working on my sisters 2010 Kia Soul. It has burned out 3 clutches in a little over a year. I will be posting more in the forum.

Welcome on board. I would like to know where you got this "require" folks to post information about themselves. There is no policy nor any policing force making them do so. I have repeated, and this is another time, stated that posting the REQUESTED information would be nice BUT is VOLUNTARY. You will not find anyone who is requiring that information.

It is right at the top. New members are not allowed to post outside of the new member introduction until they have introduced themselves. And since the first post is "moderated and may not go up right away" the user has to wait longer to post. I like to get straight to work, so a separate introduction post seems like a waste of time and effort.

This forum like many others is run by control freaks who will ban you at the drop of a hat. It's for your own good.

What info are you referring to? There is little that they ask for. It is a private enterprise offering, not an obligated public service, so I don't really understand what this is. Perhaps you can elucidate? There have been some folks that have left because of this issue and I don't understand. We do not ask for sensitive information such as what HIPPA classifies as such. If you tell me what it is that object to, perhaps I can see why they ask for it.

A couple of years ago, we were bombarded with spam. In order to try to control it, and it was making our lives miserable on here, the moderation was installed to have a modicum of control over who gets in. That is why the moderated label is put on the first message. I check as often as I can for them so no one has to wait forever to have their posts put up. We do not ban without reason but occasionally a member becomes so unruly that we have to. The latest action was taken because as much as we tried to reason with the member, he or she would not understand what they had done was offensive. To be honest it sounded like a teenager that got on here to troll the board with nonsense.

I think Shaggy has done a great job as moderator. Half you guys are lucky I don't own the site because I'd kick your ass off of here for less than just not posting an introduction. Almost every forum has two dozen people who do all the heavy lifting, answering questions, helping troubleshoot, trying upgrades and modifications, etc, and ten thousand people who suck all the air out of the room, never contributing anything and just sucking up the "free" knowledge of people who work for it. Considering how many Kia Souls have been sold in the US and how many people are "members" of this forum, it should be rocking with people asking questions, trying out new stuff, etc. but instead the 2010-2013 area is dead as a door nail except for the occasional 2 post Charlie who asks a question, milks the free knowledge and never comes back.

So there. :)

Shaggy has my vote too, hands down. You could not hope for a better, more fair & kind moderator. Plus he's just a dang nice guy.

Thank you Shaggy.

I would make it a requirement that you could not cheer for the Patroits or Cowboys. Or the Yankees.
And to the OP ... its more of making sure you are a real person than anything else.

That's pretty much SOP on most of the forums I've been to. As Shaggy points out, there's lots of bots and spams as well as chicken noodle soup out there who enjoy causing chaos. It's a forum, it's free, why can't we all just get along?

Yup. Lots of nutty adolescent-level-maturities out there. Some of them occasionally get loose on a computer. :very_drunk::emptiness:
