I bought a replacement center console lid for my 2017 Soul turbo. When I open the old, attached cover, I see 2 screws but removing them doesn't allow for the cover removal. Am I missing something? Do I have to take the whole center console out? I'd prefer not to, if I don't need to.

Yes, you will have to take at least the back cover off the console, you can use some plastic pry tools to get it off, but you may have to remove the whole console from the car. My manual transmission Soul didn't come with the console with an armrest, so I had to assemble it. Can't remember exactly what I had to do but here's the thread I used, maybe it will show you what you will need to do.
