Hi

I replaced the lower ball joints on a 2011 Kia soul.
But when taking it for a drive I find that the passenger side wheel rocks.
You can reproduce the effect when you grab the tire and rock it back and forth.
(Rocking top to bottom, from passenger side towards driver side)

As far as I can tell the only thing moving around improperly is where the driveshaft butts into the front hub assembly, the driveshaft moves independently of the assembly.
I've tried tightening the driveshaft locknut without any improvement.
Also the lower ball joint looks fine.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Did you replace just the ball joints or the entire lower control arm?

What were the symptoms that drove you to change the ball joints? I ask because perhaps, maybe, you misdiagnosed the problem.

Hi, sorry if r the delay, but work has been... busier than normal.. And I haven't been able to look at the wheel again.

Anyway it looks like your both right. It is definetly the wheel bearing, and it's likely it was the wheel bearing all along, it just became worse after pulling the drive shaft out when replacing the lower ball joint.

Thank you for your help, it made a difference :D
