Got a remote starter installed when I got my soul. I start the car with the remote start, then I push the button again to unlock, the rear hatch will not open unless I open a random door first. I talked to the people who installed it, They said it works how ever Kia designed it. The kia dealer uses another business to install the remote starts. I can't use my kia fob at all until I put my key in the ignition.

Does anyone have the same issue/feature?

I have the same issue. Two weeks ago I bought a certified 2018 Soul Base and they threw in the remote start. I thought the dealer was going to do it, but instead they farmed it out to an independant shop across the street. It is still covered under the warranty. It's a Directed Electronics AstroStart.

It could be when installed a ground was done incorrectly. Can't really directly compare a 2014 to a 2107, however on my 2014 the remote start/alarm would not fold the mirrors when locked. The installer found the instructions for one of the ground wires was wrong.
