I just bought a 13 kia soul. I like the car, but from the moment I drove out of the showroom I have had an annoying knocking noise coming from the right front wheel . Could it be a problem with the strut? It's driving me nuts.Has anyone had this problem?
From the moment you drove it out of the showroom? I would have been back there within minutes! Or maybe test driven it. Before I bought my se3 I test drove a Certified Titanium Sport with 3000 miles on it, it had a slight tire vibration at 65 mph, that alone was a deal killer, just no normal reason for it on a nearly new car.
Not to stray too far off topic but I've had my se3 for 32 months, only 15K but including 3 cross country road trips have never had so much as a hint of a problem other than the apparently unavoidable paint chips. Also, overall quality, fit & finish etc. is far superior to any of the 45 vehicles I've owned.
I'm with everyone else, back to the dealer I'd go, especially under warranty. I test drove my 2012 Soul ! Right off the delivery truck on the weekend, before the service dept to check it for acceptance. Tested it again at pick-up in case anything happened during acceptance check (mechanic left something lose). I would have been back in a flash if heard any weird noises.
When I'm driving on my sand road, I get a continual thump, thump, thump, sound from the front of the car.
If the car is moving, it's thumping!
I did take it back to the dealer..... I had a mechanic do a test drive with me, but it was all on paved streets.
I could not get him to take it out across a vacant lot.
He did not hear the noise, so he took the car into the shop where he checked the torque on all the bolts under the front of the car,
like in the steering mechanism, etc. Everything was tight.
But, when I'm under my car's front end I notice that the fasteners that hold the front bumper on, are plastic and they are not tight.
I'm thinking of replacing those plastic push-in fasteners with bolts with nuts on them, to see if that solves the noise problem.
Now that I know that the problem is not loose parts in the running gear, I'm not so worried about it.
I never hear the noise when I'm on paved streets.
Every car seems to have some little noise maker and I guess that's mine.
