Killed my passenger side mirror

1411 Views 27 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  KaptainRandom
Hi guys. Just drove too close to a parked AMAZON truck and swiped my passenger side mirror on my green KIA Soul 2019! The mirror part came out and is just hanging on the frame itself now. I could kick myself in the "you know what". I checked online. There are some I found but all in black. None of them are in the colour green like my KIA. Any advice out there on how I can find a replacement to get this fixed as soon as possible, please?

Thank you. I was hoping to get a new one somewhere though.

New ones come in a matte black that’s ready for paint. A salvage yard mirror would be much cheaper than having a body shop paint your new mirror plus the cost of the new mirror. Is the glass itself replaceable on these mirrors I wonder? If it’s just the mirror glass that’s broken maybe you can just replace that
Did you stop to see what damage you did to the truck?

Oh, I didn't know this. Thank you. No, the mirror didn't break. But that inside middle round attachment broke off. Therefore the mirror was just hanging there. Limp and sad.
Were you the driver? Did you realize you hit another vehicle? If you hit another vehicle and don't stop you could be charged with hit and run or leaving the scene of an accident. Sorry about your mirror but if you damage another vehicle you are responsible for the damage. If the other driver is not around you should leave a note with your contact information. ;)

A picture is worth a thousand words. Yes the glass just snaps in, you can pull it off with your fingers. The cover snaps off also so you can have it painted while it is off the mirror and off the car. The painted cover is a little harder to remove without breaking the clips, too hard to explain where to place the plastic trim tools but basically you go around it with a pair of plastic trim tools and keep popping it till it comes off.
Try car-part.com to locate one at a salvage yard near you. If you have blind spot you need to look for correct mirror, see if your is a heated or non heated glass also.

What year is your Soul and trim?

Some came with heated and signals.

Did you stop to see what damage you did to the truck?
Yes. Just hit that corner of that holder that holds the mirror. Wasn't even a scratch on it. I waited for the driver, he looked at it and just laughed and said don't worry.

It's 2019 without a signal, not heated as far as I know.

I did stop and talked to the driver. There was no damage to his truck.

If you pull off the "glass" part of the mirror you will either see two wires on the back of it or not. If you have two little wires attached to it then it is a heated mirror. If you had blind spot there would also be a small connector on the back of the glass for the LED blind spot indicator
You did the right thing. Good luck on fixing your mirror.
I broke my driver side (white) mirror in similar way.
Replacing complete unit a LOT easier than replacing glass and/or cover.
I replaced with recycled from...
If you search with computer you get pics,
If you search with mobile (phone) you dont get pics.
Less than $100 each.
I have a RedZone Edition (RedTrim on WhiteBody)
And decided to replace both white mirrors with red.
$150ish total.
