So far we are very happy with the car. On a trip from Naples, FL to Orlando and back we only got 26 MPG. That is less than our 2014 Hyaundai Sante Fe Sport which gets right at 30 MPG on a trip. After driving it for three weeks, I'm sorry I didn't pay more for the larger 2.0 engine but read this AM that it is not much better in power and worse on economy. My only two complaints so far besides not being fuel efficient is the ridiculous fan motor with only four speeds. It should be at least five or six. Also while in Orlando we could not keep the windshield clear though we don't seem to have a problem here in Naples. We tried everything, A/C on, A/C off, fan on high, fan on low, inside air off, inside air on, heat on and heat off. The onlyl way we could see was to leave the wipers on (the problem was on the outside not on the inside). I would share a photo but I don't see a way to upload photos on this page.
welcome to the forum, comparing a brand new vehicle for fuel economy vs one a couple of years old and just on one trip doesn't mean very much.
That's the first time on the fan speed (I presume your talking about the climate control system) that I've come across some one complaining about it. Can you not set the selection between the numbers? I'll have to check the speeds on my auto climate control - all I can say is it sure blasts the heat and keeps me comfortable in the hot weather.
The 2.0L engine has 34 hp more than the 1.6L and 33 lb. ft. of torque. The 1.6L is rated at 24/30 and the 2.0L is rated at 24/31 - of course your mileage will vary :sneakiness:
Welcome.
Your windshield fogged up, is that the deal?
If you're talking HVAC fan, I can just say ??? I use the bottom two speeds 98% of the time so I can't help here.
Did you drive both the 1.6 and 2.0? If so, you'd know the 2.0 has a good deal more poke. It also spins slower on the highway, about 30 MPH/1000 RPM vs 25 MPH/1000 RPM in top gear with the automatic.
These motors take some time to break in. Your first tank MPG is almost meaningless, you don't know how full you were when you left the dealership.
LOVE my Soul! Got 29-30 MPG on 3,000 mile road trip to PHX / LA / PDX. The 2.0 is definitely worth the upgrade, better acceleration into traffic, no 'turbo lag' (which I can't stand on my wife's VW). Love the auto-climate heat / AC, heated / cooled seats, nav system, back up camera. I literally have ZERO complaints!
I got my new soul 2 mos ago, tried both models, then got the 1.6 the 2.liter would cost 2,000 more my 2016 cost 18,625 with extras I had a Honda crv before for 8 yrs, the 1.6 go s good opened it up to 85 for a brief peiod, rides great, no road noise and has exec low end toq. on my lasttrip goning65 I got 34 mpg I'm getting 27 in city, but no heavy foot, putting fog ligts on next.
