You can just drop the word "Belt" because it does NOT exist in the IVT.
Just like our cars don't have Generators, or Carburetors, either.
From an engineering standpoint, I fully understand the workings of a CVT and an IVT and they are really NOT the same thing. But I'm not willing to argue with you about it. OK?

NO, I won't be pulling any stumps with my 2020 IVT. Nor pulling any Lincoln Navigators out of sand pits. In fact, there are many things I won't be doing with my 2020 Soul, that I did with my 2013. However, the IVT in my new Soul does feel really strong. I still get into a stop light drag race every now and again, but that's just normal service. lol

Oh, by the way, this is "Sadie Hawkins Day" or "Leap Day".

I used both terms when talking about CVT's in general. Some have a belt and some like ours have a chain. I've even read articles that state that some CVTs use a chain for a belt. One article went into great lengths to discuss the operating differences between a belt driven CVT and a chain driven CVT. Regardless you need something to transfer the motion from the drive pulley to the driven pulley.

Cheers
