Hello All. I am new here and posted when I bought my 2017 Kia+ at the end of April. I have used the book so much that it is actually coming apart already. The book for my other car (2003 Chevy Trailblazer) has the same problem but I have been using that book for 15 years - (not 3 months).

Anyway my question is: Is there a way to view the car's mileage without turning the key on? Like pushing something on the steering wheel. I have been having a very steep learning curve here as both my other cars were 15 years old. Now I have a large 2003 Chevy Trailblazer Extended Northface edition and the little 2017 Kia Soul+. Love em both. Thanks for any help here.

Are you kidding? OH, of course you are! The entire dashboard is OFF until you turn the key ON. Everyone knows that!

And do you realize you're posting in the Gen 1 forum and you own a Gen 2 Soul? So put your thinking cap ON and then get over to the Gen 2 forum.

it's been a very long time since you could see the odometer reading without turning on the vehicle (you can view it just turning on to the accessory setting without actually starting the engine) probably once the vehicles went to a digital odometer instead of a mechanic one.

To save wear and tear on your owners manual, download a copy to your computer. That's what I do, as you can find things much faster.

A lot of US domestics turn on the dash and/or cluster when the driver door is opened, so it's really just vehicle dependent. Unfortunately I don't think any Hyundai/Kia models will do it.

Thank you for your responses. Part of the problem with this is that the book apparently covers every conceivable Soul model and accessory available. What is written may/may not apply.

Your post was rude no matter how you try to spin it.

There are plenty of cars that display the mileage just by opening the door. They do it so service people do not have to have the key or turn on the car to get that basic information. So a simple, no the Soul does not do that, would have been a proper response. Along with politely letting him know that he posted in the wrong forum and you would not have come across as such a jerk.

Stop being awful and try to do better next time, you may enjoy the results.

Well we will all get a laugh from this: I do go into the Ladies Room as I am a lady. (not a guy). I did not know there was a Soul Gen 1 and 2. I'm not refusing to post anything anywhere and now know there are 2 generations.

Also, at this early stage of my using this forum I find it hard to use - spent a lot of time trying to find the "rules" of the forum and (as suggested by another member) finally used the search feature.
It shouldn't be that hard to find the rules.

Now... was that rude? Depends of each definition of "rude"... In some countries, until this year, women where allowed to get near a car driving seat. Still not allowed on forums. Now that is what I consider "rude".

Open the site on the phone using the preferred browser (I like Firefox) and will switch to a mobile form, decent looking IMO.

I don't believe there's a dedicated app but there is at least one that will allow you to browse just about any forum. It's called Tapatalk and has been around for years. That I can't help you with past the info since I haven't used it, but I believe some of the others here do.
