You're welcome! Dealer wanted 200+ to do it, I did it myself over the course of an hour and a half for $50ish.

Be sure to check out that drain bolt.. there's no way I'd let this car go on the same fluid for it's "lifetime", whatever "lifetime" means. Car had 58k mi on it when this was performed.

I have noticed ever so slightly smoother upshifts, downshifts in low gears when coasting are still rough as before.

a few newbie questions:
1. i have a 2013 soul+ with 2.0L engine, is the drain/refill procedure similar?
2. what is the socket size for the fill plug (with square in it)? I want to have all the tools ready before start to dissemble everything.
3. what ATF do you recommend? (is this a good choice? Valvoline ATF, Automatic Transmission Fluid; Dexron III; Full Synthetic; 1 Quart)
4. what's an adequate torque value when tightening the drill plug?

update:
I found most of what I needed from the service manual and the site below:

1. I *imagine* it's similar, but not 100% sure. There's a couple other threads where people changed their fluid, they might have the higher trim 2L engines.

2. I don't remember the socket size for the fill plug, it definitely wasn't as large as the drain plug. Worst case, you could use pliers and gradually rotate it off.

3. I used Valvoline ATF SP-IV, the bottle should say it works on Kia's Hyundai's etc. Kia does sell their own genuine transmission fluid, but it's easily twice as much. 4 quarts came out, 4 quarts went in.

4. Don't have a torque wrench, but I treated it just like my oil drain pan bolt: hand tighten, but don't ape strength it. Monitor for leaks. I'm shadetree mechanic'ing over here haha

Out of the whole procedure, my main goal was to just get the metal shavings off the drain bolt so that it can accommodate another 50k miles of filings from gears and whatnot. The fluid looked relatively fine.
