I'd use 3/8" thick plywood. If you're planning on putting a lot of weight on it 1/2"
I was to buy a tot and cover the lid with black felt just to make it level with the back seat when the back is layer down

The factory package trays are just plastic wrapped in felt. Basically a place to put bread and eggs.
If mean a spare tire cover? I would be going back to the dealer. All makes and models are equipped with these.

Do you know how to use a tape measure? I'd suggest getting a large piece of cardboard and making a template. Once you get that right, cut your plywood. With the price of plywood nowadays, you don't want to experiment with cutting it and having it not fit. That could get expensive.

The width is approximately 40 inches wide. The circular cut-outs at the leading edge is 2.5 x 1.5inches. The front part depth is about 15.5 inches. Piano hinge is mounted on that line. The back part is10.5inches. I made a cardboard template for this piece to match the curves. I used a 48 inch piano hinge ,cut to 36 inches to attach both pieces.I used a 2 inch hole drill for a handle to open lid.I made mine out of 1/2' birch plywood. This matches the height of the rest of the cargo area. (2'x4' ply from Lowes) have to piece rear 2" or so to get full depth. Gorilla Glue ! Inexpensive matte- black spray paint .All-in for under $50 25 for wood, 17 for the hinge 8 for the paint.
