About 3 weeks ago my 2020 Kia Soul which has just over 30k miles on it started making a high pitch squeal coming somewhere from the front. It started after driving down the highway for about 5-10 minutes at 65mph & is constant, even once I exit & am at lower speeds, unless I am at a complete stop. After parking it overnight, it doesn’t make the sound & doesn’t do it if I’m just driving around town but, if I get on the highway & up to 60-65mph for a consistent 5-10 minutes it starts again & the cycle continues.
Took it to Kia dealership who was able to replicate the problem. Said they lubricated the connector pins on my front brakes & drove it several times without hearing the noise so, I picked it up & drive it home on back streets with no issues. The next morning I drove on the highway to work & as soon as I got up to 65mph for about 5 minutes it started again so, dropped it back off at Kia that evening. So far, they say they’ve not been able to replicate the noise but are going to try again tomorrow. They are aware of the circumstances but I did reiterate it & sent them two recordings of the noise.
I’ve read through some older forums where windshield seals were the culprit but it sounds as if it is coming from the engine area, or perhaps the brake area. Open to any suggestions for troubleshooting.
Thanks!!
