Which model of Soul do you have Walter?

Are your music files in mp3 or WMA format?

without more specifuc case info,
It sounds like either...

File format of music files is not compatible with headunit.

Or

Thumb drive (or its formatting) is not compatible with headunit.

Check to make sure music file are in .mp3 or .wav format.

Try a different brand thumbdrive.

Put the files directly individually on the thumb drive, not all in one file sometimes that makes a difference. Also try another thumb drive. I use a thumb drive often, sometimes to transfer songs from it to the Kia system, sometimes to play directly from the thumb drive.
