2011 Soul Tiger. I have to turn up the temperature to at least 78 degrees to get heat in cabin. Then if I have switch on AUTO, heat will only come from floor. If I try to use mode for dash and floor, the AUTO will automatically shut off. Is it me, or is this the way it suppose to work?

Yep, the auto climate control in my 2014 works just like this. I run at 78 degrees in the cold weather, and 85 ish when the car is cold and the cabin is needing the initial warm up. Then back down to about 76-78 to keep it comfortable.

That is how it works on our Pontiac G6 and our our GMC truck. Auto is just that - an automatic mode, once you make changes it is manual. I too found around 77 to 78 in cold weather is where it keeps it warm.
