The flip key has cracked where the blade enters the chrome pivot point.
It cracked and the pin securing the blade fell out.
I can see where my other one has hairline cracked as well.
I've read where this is a fairly common occurrence and that most dealers will warranty it as a "goodwill" courtesy.
I'm wondering what the masses here have experienced, both in the way of key failures and dealer "goodwill" successes?

I didn't realize it was a "common occurrence", no problem with mine (both sets). Maybe just some good quality plastic glue, pin you can get from a hardware store and make to fit or they are available from a dealer.

I simply had a key cut and now carry it along with my remote.
A quick fix until I can get over to my local dealership for the final word.
I have read where it is somewhat common so I thought I would post up and see what the masses have experienced.

The old ways with separate fob had there advantages.
It should be a straight forward repair to make as fixed key .
I have never heard of them breaking as there should be no pressure on blade unless left out when not in use.
Give your dealer your friendliest smile when you see him good luck

As I've read this thread, I've thought of all sorts of comments....but alas, most of them would get me a time out, or banned.

So I'll just wish you Good Luck, and take my leave.

Cheers Mate!

Well...At very least I've managed to stimulate your thought processing.
The folks at K.S.F. seem like an easy going group so I doubt you'ld earn a "time out" or a "banning" unless you found the need the really turn on the flame...

It's not the "blade" that breaks but the chrome pivot point where the blade affixes to the remote.
They are thin there and seem to hairline crack which subsequently allows the affixing pin to fall out.

I simply had a key cut at my local locksmiths for 5.00
Been reading where/that dealers will replace it as a "courtesy" more than an actual warranty item.
Either way (courtesy or warranty) works for me!
