Have an appointment to have my windows tinted tomorrow. Does anyone know what the tint levels are from the factory? I keep reading 20%, but there is no way my car only lets in 20% light thru the back windows. Maybe this was pior to 2013 or just in some states?

Im looking to go like 60% on the front and 30% on the back so I would like to know what I have now. It is a 2013 base.

The numbers for tint level are the % of light that they allow to pass through.

Go to a professional Tint Installer and they can tell you what you have and what is Legal in your state.
It does differ, from state to state.

I got the max that is legal in FL and I find that the back windows (factory tint) are just ever so slightly darker than the front windows.

Be aware, some states allow a little tint strip along the top of the Windshield and some don't.

Good Luck!

my installer that did the front windows (32% limit here in Ontario), said the factory tint is 20% for the rear side and hatch windows. Don't know how these figures are arrived at but that's how its rated :D

Well, a professional installer can just look at it and tell you how much it is and if it's legal.

Some even have the light meter that gauges the amount of tint.
I'm told some police have those meters too....so don't get caught with more tint than what is Legal in your area.

Good Luck!

What is legal and what you can get away with are two different numbers here in NY. Most police won't check unless you are pulled over for something else or at a check point.
NY's limit is pretty high (barely any tint)

There was writing on the small back windows that said at least 70% light transmission. But nothing on any of the windows and I did not see a diff between the front and rear side windows. So I ended up going 55% on the front (50% is the lowest you can go in Ohio for front) and %15 on the back. I like it a lot, it makes the inside so much better, not as bright in the back and not as hot.
