Hi! New to forum.... Just bought a 2010 kia soul with 5 speed and I really like it. However, it will not pass smog due to a code. It runs great and passed emission test. I took it to a dealer and they want 1700.00 dollars to replace the ECU and a purge valve. Does this sound remotely possible? I do not have the info in front of me, but this sounds pretty weird to me.... Any techs out there that can explain? Thanks!

I think absent evidence that the ECU has a problem, changing it would be irresponsible. What reason are they giving you for suspecting that it needs to be replaced?

Take it to auto zone and have them check the codes for free... See what they are and Google the Bad codes...
