Hello Kale/Mike: How does this look?
These 4 universal steel wheels are from Amazon, and fit correctly, but are not hub centered.
The center hole in the wheel is larger than the hub, so the wheel is held in place by the lug nuts only. That makes it hard to line up the lug holes with the 5 studs. But there is a gap enough to fit those hub covers that I got from Tractor Supply Store. I also have a set of 4 universal aftermarket steels from Amazon that ARE hub centric. No gap between wheel and hub, so no way to affix a cover. This prevents me from switching from chrome dome smoothie hubcaps with trim rings with center caps in the summer. I would like to swap them out occasionally.
I have looked everywhere, for years and have not found a solution. (I dislike spokes!)
My next bright idea is using a black balloon over the spindle. Maybe a black condom?
How about a black plastic cereal bowl, held in place by the lug nuts?
I want this more than you do, so let's get a way to cover that ugly spindle. The rear hubs can be painted black and do not look so bad uncovered. Also suggesting... Get large chrome lug nuts from Gorilla so they are easy to spin by hand and look cool.
