Hi everyone! I am really interested in leasing a 2020 Kia Soul but need to make sure it fits my large dog’s travel/car crate. I can’t seem to find the car’s cargo dimensions (in inches) anywhere. The dog crate’s dimensions are 30.5” H, 22.25” W, and 40.25” L. Will this fit into the 2020 Kia Soul with the rear seats folded?

Thanks so much for your help! I’m trying to avoid the dealership as long as I can due to all this social distancing. :)

I haven't got the dimensions for G3, but have for the G2, I doubt if there would be that much difference.

Thank you! I saw this same image but thought (hoped) the 2020 might have a bit more height.
Gotsa big mouth, 2020 looks wider.
Gonna be a tight fit at 40 1/4 inch wide.
mlght get it in, on top the wheel wells.

I think I'd just swing by a stealership, with tape measure in hand, and get my own measurements. Eh?

Since Height seems to be the critical dimension, I just went outside and measured mine....

The height of the rear hatch opening is 28.5" . (Maximum)

I used to have a Dodge Caravan, which would be perfect for your needs. :)

Stay healthy, my friend,
FLH

The dual height set up will allow it to fit if you set it on the lid on the lower setting and slide the cage in then move it to upper setting once it is in. Getting past the drop at the door opening is the key. I built a separate lid so you still have storage room below, but that might be more work than you want. Could be easier to buy a cage that’s 28” tall.

Thanks for posting! I am looking at a Soul and wanted to see if my bike would fit - 26" handbar width, 56" length from front fork to outer rim of rear wheel (front wheel removed). Seems like it will. Trying to get it into an Uber driver's Trailblazer was a PIIA with it's odd outcroppings of plastic molding coming into the cargo area. This vehicle seems like it was designed with gear (and dogs) in mind! Reminds me of the old Honda Element.

Assuming you can lay the thing down on its side it might fit. Folding the seats down, 45" deep is no problem. And 20" for the height works fine. 39" is still the question whether that can be squeezed in the width of the tailgate or not, it would be close.

I would definitely be laying down flat depth 20”so my concern really is the width at 45” and the height at 39”. Thank you.

Precious2k1 - Once you lay the media chest down (onto the backside of the media chest) and turn / rotate it so that one longways end will now enter into the Kia Soul
  • the height becomes 20",
  • the depth becomes 45", and
  • the width becomes 39".
In this new orientation, it is the width of 39" which is the potential problem for getting the media chest through the hatch opening.

On the my 2014 (Generation 2) Kia Soul the hatch opening is ~39½in at the middle portion of the hatch while at the bottom of the hatch the width is more like 35in.

Thus if the hatch on the current Generation 3 Kia Soul is similarly sized & shaped, you will need to lift up the media chest for it to fit through the middle widest portion of the hatch opening. And also continue to support the media chest as it goes in so as not to damage the plastic trim at the bottom corners of the hatch opening.

The question is what are the hatch opening measurements on the current Kia Soul (Generation 3).

There is potentially such a small margin for error - will it fit or not - I think I'd cut a piece of cardboard the size of the cross section of the media chest and go to the rental car business (or a Kia dealer) to see if it'll fit before renting.

One other thing, if the media chest is in a packing box that'll likely have to be removed for the media chest to be able to fit.
