At last I had the side mirror covers hydro dipped. Hopefully this will answer some questions some of you may have.
1. Yes you should remove the entire mirror from the car, remove the glass mirror (not sure how to do that). Then take apart the inside to the mirror to get to the rear of the cover and push the tabs out to remove the cover.
2. I just popped off the covers from the outside and yes a few tabs broke, but the covers are still useable as in they will stay on the mirror assembly.
3. I bought 2 new blank mirror covers online to get them dipped The cost for dipping was around $80. for the 2 covers, the cost for 2 new blank covers was around $50.
4. The old stock covers are for sale if anyone is interested reminder they have minor scratches and broken tabs BUT will stay on the mirror assembly, i tested them out for a few weeks. $35. plus shipping.
