Interested in a 23 and kia seltos. Good vehicle? If you've driven one how are they power wise? Considering an ex. Thanks
The Seltos has the same 2.0L and CVT (IVT) as the Soul and are similar in size so I would think they would be almost the same. Most come with AWD so maybe a tad slower from the extra weight.

FWIW.......

Wife bought a 2022 Seltos EX last year and sold it 3 months after.

It is very underpowered and quite heavy feeling, wishy washy steering feel, with bad CVT programming IMHO. Bad seat contouring. It's just basically nothing more than a gadget delivery beta testing system with no character. Looks like every other mid sized SUV in the mall parking lot too.

Ok thanks. I have not driven one yet. Think I'll keep what I have, it's paid for.

Many (paid for) will face failing engines (trans too) in the next few years. So many owners are keeping their four cylinder Theta 2s (Gammas also) too long. Some drive perfectly fine for several years, even minutes prior to permanent engine breakdown. Many of these failed engines came from used car lots within the past 18 months or-so, still having 2-3-4 years of monthly payments remaining.

Maybe I should buy a Toyota. Or a Honda. They never ever have any problems. :p

I wouldn't make my decision based on one persons comment. I can show similar comments on every single car made.

The Soul has been trashed six ways to sunday but turned out to be the most reliable and well built vehicle I've owned.

Do your own Seltos research and remember good & bad comments are only worth what you paid for them.

The reviews I've seen on the seltos say the front seats are uncomfortable and it's kinda sluggish. Course what I read I take with a grain of salt. I'm just not buying a vehicle without driving it first. I'm sure the seltos is OK. Maybe dealers will start getting vehicles in stock so I can drive one. I'm satisfied with my kia soul. Was just looking for awd.

I think the Seltos has a turbo version if you need it to be more powerful.

Then why did it take the dealer over a month to figure out why my V6 Accord was running like crap a few years ago?
Can you say faulty engineering? Real nice car but who cares if you can't trust it?
A V6 Accord. I don’t think they even offer that engine in them anymore. They’re shoving that tiny little 1.5L turbo in the new ones. What did the dealer find wrong with yours?

They did not go for the ultimate fix of the TSB, changing piston rings.
Talked about adjusting valves but did not do that, iirc.
Probably changed plugs, cleaned fuel system, consulted Honda America...
Took almost $1000, but did give me a loaner Civic on goodwill. No warranty.
A month later I was back for another $350 or so.

I was never sure the problem was fixed for good.
Seemed to be rooted in the VCM, variable cylinder management system and/or piston rings.
Lots of threads on driveaccord. There was a class action lawsuit that Honda lost or settled related to this. It was a 2008 model.
Could not trust it anymore, although the V6 was smooth and speedy when it was right.
Bought Soul, sold Honda, no more Accords for me. Soul is Muy mas bitchen. :p

Oh yeah, I’ve heard a lot of problems with that VCM, in the odyssey too. A lot of people put a vcm muzzler on them. Nothing good comes out of disabling cylinders it seems. GM has trouble with it too.

Ir was a 3.5 liter V6. A real economy gas saver. Not!
Sure make it unreliable to save 1/2 mpg.
Honda engineers. Doh!
I was a Honda & Acura V6 owner most of my life. Same problems across all of them. Never again.

Took a chance on Kia 9 years ago with my Soul. Funny, no repairs in that time, just regular filter & oil changes.

The Kia switchgear is way better. Hondas have front end problems, brakes go fast & alignment shimmy after a couple years. Kia is rock solid & a breath of fresh air in comparison, not to mention wallet drain.
