The new 2020's use an "Atkinson" cycle engine where the 2012/2013's did not.
Though the H.P. & torque numbers are significantly higher for the earlier models the 2020's actually get the job done a fraction faster than before.
As big a change as the motor is, so too is the transmission with the use of a CVT over the conventional 6 speed automatic.
Coming from a 2.0 2012 I can tell you that the 2020 is deceptively quicker if even by a hair.
The car is fairly docile but when you step on the go pedal...it goes!
Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your view, progress never stands still and the Atkinson cycle and the CVT are case in point progress where the 2020 soul is concerned.
Test drive one and put it through it's paces and you will be pleasantly surprised how well it accomplishes the task at hand.
There will always be a shaking out period with issues arising as new technology takes a foothold and some warming up to.
Having owned the 2012 for 7+ years, I did grow accustom to it good-bad-indifferent.
I'm still warming up to our 2020 and it's exactly a year since we purchased it.

It's (still) a great little car!
Well, my three months free trial of Siriusxm ends soon. I like it but to continue @$22 a month is more than I would want to spend. It seems very expensive. How many members here shell out $22 a month for this service?
Today, I took 'Jem' for a little jaunt (about 75 miles) out to Cedar Key on the Gulf coast. It was a nice day for a re-visit. I had not been there since the last hurricane hit the place.
Bikers love the place, as it's a nice destination for a 'Ride'.

Seems like I'm getting to good of gas milage, I haven't done the math to check but my milage seems to good to be true.
Has anyone verified the accuracy?
This is with the cruise on most of the time 65-75 miles per hour.
We are in the 6000 to 8000 feet elevation.
Shifts more like a regular auto now and it shifts to a higher gear faster, almost like shifting into overdrive at barely enough speed sometimes. Also sort of bogged down today starting from a stop light with the air conditioner on which it never did before. It was not just starting out it felt...
I'm just debating what is the best color to get a new soul turbo 2020.
This is going to be my 1st experience with a Kia car.
Maybe by this or the next week I can buy the car, im just undecided about the color.Help me to decide the color. Neptune blue? White Snow Pearl? Red inferno? Or...
