I am eyeballing a 2018+ that says it has "designer collection package". It's listed for the black spoke wheels and the leather shift and leather steering wheel. It says no more about it. However, when doing a search, Kia's website states the collection is not only the wheels and leather, but also the two-tone paint (roof is different). There is a stock photo of the car as they JUST got it, but it is being held for me to go look at (it wasn't out of detailing as of Saturday and we are an hour from the dealership). It is the Caribbean Blue color (electric blue?). Is the two-tone a given in this package? The website seems to have a chart to compare each car model, but it a bit contradicting having a dash in the Soul + column when the plus I am looking at has the leather options. So, I am not sure what that means. Does anyone know?

ETA: clarification...there are columns and you follow it down, but it doesn't exactly clarify if it's ALL the options or some?

Thanks in advance! Here is the link to the comparison.

I read the "designer collection package" as a $400 option available only on the "plus" trim. It shows a yes if you select plus, and a dash if you select base or exclaim.

And yes it says it includes "two tone roof treatment" but doesn't indicate what the second color would be.

I looked up the paint code. The roof will be white.

So it's a complete thing? Someone can't customize it and say no to the roof or was it just made this way? I'm not complaining! I'm actually pretty stoked about it (considering I won't get my sunroof ..the 2011 has one along with the lit speakers) which is a bummer. But CarPlay and two-tone make up for it. :).

From what I can tell, that’s the only configuration the two tone Caribbean Blue came in. Unless of course someone had it painted later.

Here are the other two tone combos the Soul had back then.

Please......if it is a key-start, no insurance company will insure it. I found out the hard way; I bought a 2015 Kia Sould; loved it because I'm 77 yrs old and have a touch of arthritis so the Soul was easy to get into and out of. I was goind to change insurance companies, NOPE; no one would touch it. With no anti-theft device installed, my Soul because a high-theft item, so no insurance. The dealership told me that to change mine to a push-button start would cost the company too much $$$; and my credit union will not carry the contract without insurance. I asked about an 'after-market' anti-theft device, nope, insurance wouldn't cover that. Long story short; I did a voluntary repo, and the hit on my credit is nothing compared to the b.s. I ran into. I called the Kia Corporate Office in CA; my states Attorney Generals office, the BBB and anyone else I could think of to file a complaint. Good luck.

My insurance company insured mine.

That's not true where I am. I currently own one and have issues. With that being said, the company we are with (Frankenmuth) HAS talked about this but has not acted. Auto-Owners will not (one of the companies my mother writes for...she is an agent). I've heard through various channels that once you get some "fix" for it, you're good to go. Then I heard something about the immobilizer. I'm not savvy on the jargon, but something to do with identifying the actual key upon start-up.

With that new “immobilizer” update, the computer needs to see a LOCK and UNLOCK event with the key fob, otherwise it won’t let the car start. The thieves (aka scumbags) break a window and jimmy the ignition, they don’t use a key fob to unlock the car, so with the update, the computer should not allow the car to start. However, they can still cause a lot of damage to the steering column and breaking the windows. But they won’t be able to steal the car. At least this is how it should work in theory.

By the way.. “Trudy” has 16 posts of misinformation, so her posts should be taken with a grain of salt.

Trudy here; I'm sorry you feel that way. What I posted was just my experience and I just don't want anyone else to have to have the same thing happen to them. I finally turned my little Soul back to the company; felt I had no place else to go for help and I had this car I couldn't insure and couldn't drive. I was at a total loss. I'm disappointed that a company would not take steps at the get go to ensure the safety of their product. Nothing more than that.....

this sounds like it might be a push-button start. Those are insurable; it's just the key-start cars that are not.

The key goes into the steering column and will match in there. It's a software update that will then match or unmatched it there. Yes, computer stuff will reach the steering column...that's why you can control things (radio, cruise) from your wheel.

The good news for us is that we live far back into a subdivision with many streets intertwining. Two ways out to the main road. From my own law-enforcement experiences, thieves (scumbags 😎) want an easy quick way in and an easy and quick way out. I have that going for me! I just have to pray our ins company doesn't decide to boot the Souls before the fix. I'm guessing my 2011 is also part of this mess?

This update is for Hyundai/Kia models with a steel key (“turn key to start”). The push button models already have an immobilizer.

I wouldn't worry about insurance either. I haven't read a single credible post on this board about someone losing insurance coverage because they own a Kia. One poster spreading a lot of :poop: is all.

I do know there are companies not writing Kias. Auto-Owners (based her in Lansing) isn't. My mom is a licensed agent and writes for numerous companies. I think the only company that she writes for that won't cover Kias (at least at this time) is Auto-Owners. Frankenmuth has talked about it, but hasn't enacted anything at this time.
Oh! And my designer collection package came w/o the two-tone roof. WTF! I'm bumming, but thankful to find the car!

So, not an expert, but I did a lot of research when I bought mine. Pretty sure the only way to get the Caribbean blue with the white roof was an EV only package. That being said, there were definitely some in the mysterious blue with the white roof in the gas models. Guess you will just have to see it in person to get all the details, or have the dealership send you a quick picture! Good luck either way, good looking packages!

It's puuutrrttttyyy!!! It rides so well!! It has a sport drive option, too. Stereo sounds better than my 2011!! Has the cargo area mat (the hard plastic type) and it looks like the same for mats in the front seat area. Just gotta figure out a sunroof...I would settle for the old school pop up ones!!
