My wife's soul has a little over 100,000 kms on it and had a cel p0016. Checked the can position sensors and they test fine. Pulled the valve cover and noticed some slack in the timing chain between the cam sprockets. Rotated the crankshaft to see if timing was off and the chain tightened up. The timing marks all lined up at tdc. Continue rotating and at certain points the chain goes slack between the cams but tightens up as I continue to rotate. Is this normal? Don't want to change the timing chain etc if that is not the problem. We did have a low oil event but was rectified quickly. I do understand though that a low oil event can produce the sound and codes associated with timing issues.
