Very cool, congrats to your DIY initiative!
Most cars today are pre wired for almost all accessories, even if they don't have them installed, it saves time on the assembly line, as you found out, you just need the switch and mabey a computer reset to make things work.
Also, dealers often never know or legally are afraid to tell you how to do this kind of stuff!
Jdmartin is correct, about the steering wheel nut, even if your using a puller, leave the nut on until the wheel breaks free, pullers can damage the top threads on the shaft!
