Hello, I have a humming (low but loud) sound around engine while driving. When I press the gas pedal around 2500 rpm. It disappears almost immediately after releasing the gas pedal. What could be the reason, or this is just like this engine supposed to sound?

Congrats on your new to you orange Soul.

Humming can be caused by a numbering of things, including the type & condition of the tires

It could also indicate that the catalytic converter isn't functioning properly. Low-pitch humming or whirring under car: This could have any number of causes. ... The checklist includes ignition problem, clogged fuel filter, worn or dirty spark plugs, damaged spark plug wires or a compromised catalytic converter.

You may want to mention it to your mechanic at next service. Hopefully it's just a minor maintenence issue.

Keep us posted if you find a fix.

If it's happening around one specific RPM, it could be a heat shield on the exhaust is loose. Maybe a weld or rivet holding it on rusted loose.
