The soul sells the soul based on it's merits.
There wont be any hamsters going into the service dept should you need warranty work.
I doubt there were any hamsters sitting by your side when you were negotiating your deal or signing your contracts either.
They were nothing more than a lure to get you interested.
What actually sold you was the funky shape, well equipped, value priced, reliable car we have come to know and love.
That being said...little has changed even if Kia choose to have ice skating rhinos representing the car a soul is still very much a soul!
Ps: Kia missed their target market by about 30 years. How lucky for them!
People don't buy Souls BECAUSE of the hamsters. The hamster ads were unique and attracted attention that another cute girl walking through a showroom would never have attracted.

That's what advertising is. Scratch the curiosity button. People eventually show up in the showroom.

If you promoted cars with porn, people would show up in showrooms in droves!
    At least the men would...

    2020 GT Turbo (Neptune Blue)

My big one is the smart cruise....I keep it on the lowest/least sensitive setting yet it still is awful. Put the cruise on 45, have the car WAY in front me me turn off the road and into a driveway. The car is well off the road, has been for a few seconds...but as I approach the car that is now 5+ feet into the driveway, I feel the Soul slam on the breaks and drop all the way down to 25 or 30mph....once I get by that car it slowly speeds back up to 45.

The System is awful. Even if you turn it the smart cruise off...everytime you turn off cruise control and put it back on..it defaults back to the smart cruise system.

Besides that we like the car. I wish you didn't need to get everything fully loaded to get the turbo though. Our 2017 Turbo was of the $23,000 variety (no sunroof, no high end stereo, no GPS, etc). I really can do without all those things, but I wanted the turbo engine. I did drive the CVT/IVT 2.0...and to be honest with you..it drove really well. If we purchased a soul again, it might be a coin toss between the turbo and the 2.0/IVT model.

I've actually gotten used to, and mainly like, the safety features -- Lane Keep Assist and Smart Cruise. But not everything about them. I have my Smart Cruise on the most sensitive / highest setting, but it's not responsive enough to get back to speed in traffic once you pass or the car in front speeds up / moves over. Same with going up hill: other cars I've driven stick right at the speed that I have the cruise set for, but the Soul really lags on an incline. I'm guessing that's to conserve fuel, but it's not worth the trade-off. What I *do* like about the Smart Cruise, however, is the fact that if the traffic in front of me stops abruptly, the car responds.

To partially negate that safety feature, however, the Smart Cruise seems to cut off on me too quickly if I'm pressing on the accelerator. I understand it will cut off when pressing on the brake, but the accelerator?

And with the Lane Keep Assist, I've had the car indicate that both my hands aren't on the wheel -- when they are and I'm just driving along! It usually happens on a straightaway when I'm able to keep the car in the lane without the Keep Assist nudging me one way or another. It's as though it thinks I can't possibly be holding the wheel if it doesn't have to "correct" me.

Still, overall I like the features, even though they aren't as refined as they could be. When driving my 2016 I find that I miss them.

I also wanted to mention my beef with the auto-shutoff -- I actually don't mind the auto-shutoff itself, but it's also not very refined. If you've ever driven a Prius, which does the same thing, the refinement of the Prius is night-and-day way beyond the functionality of the Soul. Plus, the engine only shuts off for something like 15 seconds at most. If I'm sitting at a light for, say, 30-60 seconds, the engine just turns back on while sitting there with my foot on the brake. Really? What's the point if it won't even stay off until I need to start moving? I'm not really saving any fuel that way.

This is why we decided to trade our good running '13 Soul Base with only 93K miles in for a new '20 LX Automatic. In fact, we're picking it up this morning. When I saw that the base model (LX) was the only trim level without all of the safety stuff on it, I thought this will be one of our last chances to buy a Soul we still drive ourselves. By next year, I bet it will be standard on all models.

As far as the Auto Stop/Start, our Subaru Forester has it and we have learned to just touch the button above our left knee when reaching around to get the seat belt when we start it up. Then, it's off for the rest of the drive. Easy, and takes half a second. That's the one thing that IS on the LX, but it is not a deal breaker.
