New 2019 keep spare from 2010?

I know, another spare tire question. Sorry .
Trading 2010 (18" wheels) for 2019 (17") wheels. Keeping donut kit from the 2010. There are different kitts for Gen 1 vs Gen 2. Does anyone know what the difference would be? According to manuals tier size ((125/80D-16) and wheel size (4.0T x 10) are the same. Also bolt pattern and centre are same. Ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Billd

Probably the same. Try it and see if it fits, don't want to find out later in emergency due to bad forum advice.

If I remember, the gen 1 had two sizes, one for the 15" wheels and one for the 17-18" wheels. The Gen 2 when to one size fits all and was the same as the Gen 1 18" wheels. I would not worry about it unless you are going to be one of those folks that run the donut spare for months.

Spare from a 2010 is past it's shelf life due to age. You need a new tire to be safe, recommended age of a tire is six years the rubber gets hard as it ages and is prone to splitting.

    Yup.

As to fit, that's a caliper issue. Probably, but probably doesn't work when you need a spare.

+1 on the shelf life comment.
Although it's just a spare. But it it worth the risk?
Buy a new spare, I say.

Because it's a spare and out of the sunshine and elements, you'll likely get a couple extra years of shelf life, but it's at 9 years now. I agree with the replacement advice.
