Turn a wired Android Auto head unit into a wireless one

This looks promising for those of you looking to ditch the wire for Android Auto without having to buy a new phone (yes, your phone needs to be wireless AA compatible too) and wireless AA compatible headunit or new car with a wireless AA compatible headunit.

Read the thread? There are directions there- looks like no root on the slave phone needed, just install an app. Going to try this out.

Wow! That's awesome! I love using AA in my Soul but dislike having to plug it in everytime. I would much prefer wireless so that my phone can just stay in my purse like my keys do (I have push button start too). I would totally buy this once it's ready for prime time

Your headunit needs to have the AA app on it. If you have the basic UVO there is no way to get it. I posted this a while ago there may have been good developements or it may have stalled. Check out the thread to learn where they are at.

If you wait for this to be ready for prime time before you try it, you might be waiting a very long time. In the meantime a few aftermarket headunits with wireless AA as well as more phones capable of wireless AA have been released since I posted this. Not sure if any car manufacturers have wireless AA headunits yet. You would likely need to have the phone charging if using wireless AA.

I have seen this advertised in a few cars, high end models not lines.
